I asked a good friend of mine, Shawn Lesser if I could share his story.

Through inspiring stories of hope, resilience, and success, The Real aims to empower and support men who are going through a difficult time.

Very rarely does a passion project with a mission resonate so deeply and immediately as The Real Mental Health has for me.

Many of you in my circle will understand why I am embracing what follows…



The origin story
What at the time appeared to be the end for one individual actually marked a new beginning for not only himself but for many that he subsequently touched. This post is for the untold numbers suffering in silence.

It all started with one individual sharing their experience with another thereby marking the start of an awareness that has spurred a movement of healing.

Shawn Lesser & his close friend Brent Herd are the cofounders of The Real Mental Health. In a few short months they have garnered the attention and interest of the global mental health community.

They are currently seeking to spread their message of hope & healing across the globe by telling their story.

The vision for The Real Mental Health is to build a community to support and foster the mental health and well being across the globe. They intend to do this by questioning societal mental health narratives, providing a space for expression, and encouraging peers to be seen authentically amongst each other. By helping others heal they not only are helping themselves but hoping to extend the impact to families, and beyond. They are currently seeking to present via speaking engagements and seminars.

The goal is for 8 engagements over the next 30 days.

To date they have presented in a half dozen cities nationwide via the support of a multitude of individuals and organizations.
