THE POWER OF SOFT WASHING: DOES THE CONTRACTOR’S INSURANCE ACTUALLY COVER THE WORK?

Having an insurance policy and having coverage for the work being performed are not always the same thing.
Insurance policies contain classifications, coverage limits, deductibles, conditions, and exclusions. A contractor should confirm with their insurance agent that the policy applies to the services being offered, including residential pressure washing, soft washing, chemical application, and any specialized work.
Homeowners should also understand that a general liability policy may not cover every possible situation. Coverage can depend on how the damage occurred, what property was involved, who performed the work, and the specific language of the policy.
That is why a current Certificate of Insurance is a starting point, not the entire conversation.
Professionalism means understanding the work, recognizing the risks, preventing damage, and maintaining the appropriate protection for the services being provided.
When searching for a pressure washing company near you, do not be afraid to ask detailed questions. Your home is too valuable to rely on assumptions.

THE POWER OF SOFT WASHING: IS YOUR PRESSURE WASHING COMPANY INSURED?

What happens if a window breaks, paint is damaged, an exterior light stops working, or another part of your property is accidentally affected?
Professional pressure washing companies should carry appropriate business insurance. Homeowners can ask for a current Certificate of Insurance showing the company’s legal name, policy dates, and liability coverage.
Insurance does not replace training, careful preparation, or proper equipment. It provides another layer of protection if an unexpected covered loss occurs.
A screenshot, verbal promise, or statement that someone is “fully insured” is not the same as current documentation. The name on the insurance certificate should also match the company performing the work.
Price matters, but the cheapest estimate can become the most expensive option if the contractor damages your home and cannot make it right.
Before hiring someone for soft washing, house washing, or residential pressure washing, ask about experience, safety procedures, equipment, and insurance.

RC Pressure Washing TX serves homeowners throughout Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, and North Houston.

THE POWER OF SOFT WASHING: HOW SHOULD PLANTS BE PROTECTED?

Should plants be covered or pre-soaked before soft washing?
In most situations, thoroughly watering the plants before, during, and after the house wash is one of the most important protections. Pre-wetting the leaves and surrounding soil helps dilute accidental overspray before it can remain concentrated on the landscaping.
The technician should also control the application, watch the wind, manage runoff, and rinse any plant that receives direct contact.
Sensitive plants may require temporary covering, but covering everything with plastic is not always safer. Plastic can trap heat, especially under the Texas sun, and damage the plants it was intended to protect. Any covering should be used carefully and removed as soon as possible.
Plant protection is not a single step. It continues throughout the exterior cleaning process.
Your home should look cleaner without sacrificing the landscaping surrounding it.

TODAY IS THE DAY. Today is The Smart Start: Launching a Pressure Washing Business the Smart Way. If you’ve been thinking about starting a pressure washing business but don’t know where to begin, this is your chance to stop guessing and start with a real foundation. We’re going to cover business setup, insurance, equipment, safety, pricing, finding customers, and how to get started without spending thousands of dollars before you even know if this business is right for you. I’ll also introduce the RC Collective and explain the path available for those who want to continue with additional training, accountability, systems, and access to professional equipment. You do not need a trailer, you do not need expensive equipment, and you do not need to already own a business - you just need to be willing to learn and take the first step. If you’ve been telling yourself, “One day I’m going to start,” maybe today is that day.

THE POWER OF SOFT WASHING: HOW ARE OUTLETS PROTECTED WITHOUT DAMAGING PAINT?

Exposed outlets, lights, cameras, doorbells, switches, and other electrical components may require additional protection before soft washing begins.

That protection can include plastic covering and tape selected for the specific surface. However, the wrong tape or poor removal technique can pull away loose, freshly applied, oxidized, chalky, or already-failing paint.

Even painter’s tape is not automatically safe for every type of siding, stucco, trim, or painted surface.

Before applying tape, a professional should examine the condition of the paint, choose a product appropriate for that surface, and test a small inconspicuous area when necessary. The tape should remain in place only as long as needed and be removed carefully.

The technician must also control the direction of the spray instead of relying entirely on tape and plastic. Covering an outlet provides additional protection, but it is not a substitute for repairing a damaged electrical fixture.

Protecting one part of your home should not damage another. That attention to detail is part of professional soft washing.

Tomorrow, I’m teaching The Smart Start: Launching a Pressure Washing Business the Smart Way. If you have been thinking about starting your own pressure washing business, this is your opportunity to stop researching and start putting an actual plan together. You do not need to already own a pressure washer, you do not need a trailer, and you do not need to already have a business. You just need to be willing to learn. I’m going to show you how I would approach starting from the beginning, what I would spend money on first, what I would avoid, and what I believe you need before taking on customers. I’ll also explain the RC Collective and how qualified participants can continue beyond the Business Foundations Course with additional training, systems, accountability, and access to equipment. If this has been sitting in the back of your mind, this is the time to find out what the path actually looks like.

THE POWER OF SOFT WASHING: CAN THE MIXTURE GET INTO ELECTRICAL OUTLETS OR LIGHTS?

Yes. Water or house-washing solution can enter an exposed, damaged, loose, or improperly sealed electrical outlet, light fixture, junction box, camera, or doorbell.
The immediate result may be a tripped GFCI outlet or breaker. More serious situations can involve corrosion, electrical shorts, damaged equipment, shock hazards, or an electrical fire.
That is why exterior electrical components should be inspected and protected before soft washing begins. The technician should also avoid directing the spray into openings, vents, electrical boxes, and poorly sealed fixtures.
A professional should be prepared if something unexpected happens. Water should never be used on energized electrical equipment. A soft-washing contractor should carry a properly maintained Class C-rated extinguisher or multipurpose ABC extinguisher that is accessible during the job.
Does that mean electrical fires commonly happen during house washing? No. It means an experienced contractor recognizes potential hazards, works to prevent problems, and prepares for emergencies before beginning.

I need to make something very clear about this course. I am not going to tell you that buying a pressure washer is going to make you rich. Instead, I’m going to talk about the things that actually have to happen: learning the work, getting insured, setting up the business, talking to customers, hearing “no,” selling jobs, showing up, working safely, doing good work, getting reviews and referrals, reinvesting, and then doing it again. Pressure washing can be a relatively accessible service business to start, but it is still a BUSINESS. If you want to understand how to approach it intelligently and start on a budget, there is still time to register for The Smart Start.

THE POWER OF SOFT WASHING: HOW IS THE CLEANING MIXTURE APPLIED EVENLY?

Why does even application matter during professional house washing?
Because uneven coverage can leave clean spots, untreated areas, streaks, or patches of mold and algae behind.
Professional soft washing uses specialized pumps, hoses, nozzles, and controlled application techniques to distribute the house-washing mixture consistently. The technician works in manageable sections, uses overlapping passes, watches how the mixture reacts, and keeps the surface from drying before it can be rinsed.
Corners, rooflines, shaded areas, second-story siding, stucco details, and areas behind landscaping may require additional attention. Simply spraying from the ground and hoping the solution reaches everything is not an effective exterior cleaning process.
The goal is not to blast the house with high pressure. The goal is to apply the correct cleaning mixture evenly, allow it to work, and rinse the surface thoroughly using pressure appropriate for the material.

There’s a problem I kept seeing. Someone wants to start a pressure washing business, but they either spend thousands of dollars buying equipment before they have customers, or they buy a small homeowner-grade machine and quickly discover how difficult it is to complete professional work efficiently. That made me start asking what if there were another path? What if someone could learn the business first, develop customers, receive ongoing training, and eventually gain access to professional equipment without having to buy everything on day one? That thinking helped lead to the RC Collective. The Smart Start Business Foundations Course is where that journey begins. The course stands on its own, and you’ll learn how to start smarter whether you continue with us or not. But for people looking for more training, accountability, systems, and access to professional equipment, I’ll also explain the path into the Collective.
