Cean Cotton and Karl Webster recognized the need to design a program that integrated their knowledge about the risks organizations face while serving youth and the Abuse Prevention Program developed by Centers for Disease Control. Cean Cotton is a native Houstonian and a product of the Houston Independent School District (HISD). With more than 20 years of experience in the industry (Patrice House,
DePelchin Children's Center, Arrow Child and Family Ministries, Parks Youth Ranch) Mr. Cotton has gained intimate knowledge about protecting children from abuse and protecting organizations from financial ruin and damage to their reputation. Karl Webster is a native of Gainesville, Florida but has called Texas his home since 1976. He has earned a Masters then a Specialist degree in Counselor Education. After graduate school he moved to Houston where he became a Licensed Professional Counselor and began his career in mental health and substance abuse treatment. In 1993 he made a career change and obtained licensure as a Child Care Administrator. He is a co-founder of the Center for Success and Independence. One of their stronger beliefs is that, everyone is responsible for protecting children from abuse. Their experience provides valuable insights into ways organizations can manage the risks of all forms of abuse. Millstone Management, LLC utilizes its Abuse Risks Management Assessment to gather information unique to each organization and determine organizational strengths and weaknesses. Their Final Report provides recommendations about ways to better protect children from abuse and better protect the organization from professional and financial ruin.
