A quick trip home filled with good food, great conversations, family, friends, and making memories with the kids 🤎

From girls’ lunch dates and catching up with people I love to exploring the city through the kids’ eyes, this trip was a reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple moments.

Trip highlights:
Day 1
• Dinner at Copeland’s on the Westbank our first night in 🍽️
Day 2
• Breakfast at Toast in Gretna ☀️
• Lunch at Opelousas Seafood 🦐
• Dinner at JJ Seafood 🌊
Day 3
• Lunch at Sofia with the girls 🍸✨
Day 4
• A stop through the French Market after the line at Loretta’s was a little too serious 😂

As much as I love traveling, there’s something special about going back to where your roots are. Every visit reminds me of where I came from, how far I’ve come, and the people who helped shape me along the way.

Good food. Loud laughs. Long conversations ☺️

The older I get, the more I value simple moments with friends. Moments where nobody is rushing, everybody is just present, and the only thing on the agenda is good energy and making memories 🤎

Now let’s talk about Sofias 😭✨ The ambiance was a vibe, the music was GOOD, and the DJ was rolling all afternoon . The drinks kept coming, the food was fresh, and somehow we managed to order a little bit of the good stuff off the menu 😂🍕🍝🍸

Favorite things we tried:
🍕 Pizza: 8.5/10
🍝 Aglio e Olio Pasta: 9/10
🍹 Drinks: 10/10
🍓 Dessert: we had the pistachio olive oil cake which was actually pretty good

Definitely one of those places where you go for lunch and end up sitting there for hours just talking, laughing, and enjoying the moment.

Life will have you frustrated, tired, irritated, emotional, and questioning everything sometimes. That part is human. The dangerous part is getting comfortable in that space and letting it consume you.

Feel it. Reset. Regroup. Then get back up.

Not every day is going to feel motivated and perfect. Sometimes you really gotta push yourself through the fog, take care of your mind, and keep moving forward one step at a time.

Don’t force what isn’t aligned.
Don’t stay stuck in negativity either.

Take the breath, have the tantrum, and keep going. 🤞🏽

Good lighting and a good location will change your content immediately 🎥✨

Episode 2: Lighting + Location

You do not need a professional studio to start creating. You just need to learn how to work with what you already have.

Here are 3 simple lighting options:

1. NATURAL LIGHT ☀️
This is the easiest and cheapest option. Sit facing a window and let the light hit your face directly. Natural lighting will carry your content every time.

2. RING LIGHT 💡
Perfect for nighttime content or darker spaces. Keep it slightly above eye level and soften the brightness if it’s too harsh.

3. PORTABLE LIGHT ✨
Small portable lights are great for car content, desk setups, travel, or quick recordings when you need extra brightness.

Now let’s talk location 👀

You do not need a fancy setup. Find:
• a clean wall
• a clean corner
• your desk setup
• your car
• or create a simple aesthetically pleasing background

Your background should support your message, not distract from it.

And please do not let fear make you overthink this. Most people are too busy trying to figure themselves out to be focused on every little detail you’re worried about.

Start where you are. Adjust as you grow. The goal is to show up, not wait for perfection 🎥✨

Most people already have what they need to start creating… they just need to set the phone up better 🎥✨

Episode 1: Set Your Camera Up

1. USE WHAT YOU HAVE.
Your phone is enough. Stop waiting on the “perfect setup” to start showing up.

2. GET THE PHONE OUT YOUR HAND & GET YOU A STAND.
I said what I said 😂
A tripod, books, a cup, dashboard… something.
Holding the phone the whole time can make content feel distracting.

3. CLEAN THEM LENS.
PLEASE 😭
Keep a wipe on deck because fingerprints and smears will ruin the quality before you even hit record.

4. BACK THE CAMERA UP.
The camera does not need to be all in your face 😂
Give yourself some space in the frame so people focus on your message, not your nostrils.

5. STOP MAKING CONTENT ONLY ABOUT YOU.
This the one.

Instead:
• create around things people can relate to
• teach something
• solve a problem
• show your real life realistically
• build community
• connect your content to what you’re building

Your page should help people understand:
“What do you do?”
“How can you help me?”
“Why should I stay here?”

Move your body, laugh a little more, go outside.
