Spotlight: New junior warden Robbie Hutton—service for a church that’s good for the soul!
Robbie Hutton was recently serving our parish on the Building Committee, offering extensive expertise in construction, real estate and retail. With a deep admiration for St. Cecilia’s, he is inspired by Father Bill’s vision and leadership.
“My wife Cathy and I have purchased and rebuilt six houses and recently built one from the ground up. I’ve bought and rebuilt numerous cars and the fundamental principles translate directly to home building,” stated Robbie. As a member of the Building Committee, Robbie Hutton is currently tasked with everything maintenance-related. He values the group’s synergy, noting, “Our committee draws on a diverse set of strengths and works well together as a whole.”
His strengths are what make Robbie the perfect fit for his new role as Junior Warden. Outgoing Junior Warden Martin Payne fully endorses his successor. “The Junior Warden on the Bishop's Committee handles any issues with our building and grounds. In our case, given that we’re renting them, this primarily involves making minor tweaks while coordinating with the landlord for any significant repairs.
In the future, when the new chapel is constructed, the Junior Warden's purview will increase significantly,” stated Payne. “And Robbie Hutton is the perfect man for the job. He’s already hit the ground running—gathering bids, supervising demolition at the new site and much more. Prayers and good wishes, Robbie!”
The Hutton’s retired to New Ulm and looked at quite a few churches when searching for their spiritual home in the country. Their bond with St. Cecilia’s was almost instantaneous. “Within 10 minutes of the first service we attended, we knew it was the right fit,” commented Robbie.
“Bill is polished, dynamic and seemingly inexhaustible, despite the number of hours he puts in every week. I have a great deal of respect for him and I am so grateful for this church family. This place is good for our soul.
I look forward to contributing to the growth of this parish,” concluded Robbie. “While I currently don’t have a definitive job description for Junior Warden (at the time of this Spotlight launch), I’ll take care of whatever Bill needs to be handled. Building this church will be fun to be involved in.”
