Whenever I'm at the end of a project, I always want to give up. It's too hard. I'll never figure out this code. These prospects will never buy.

Thankfully, this is just part of the process.

No matter how hard it seems. No matter how impossible the task. It's always possible. Just keep your head down and DO THE WORK.

I've been working on a text summarization app for over 2 years. We only have a few more problems to solve before it's ready for beta.

I will not give up.

You deserve better.

Had a reasonable conversation with the protesters outside NAPE Expo this morning. They were shocked to hear how passionate oil professionals are about the environment.

They had never heard what operators are doing to solve critical environmental problems like flaring, water consumption, emission, etc. This was new information to them.

Because as an industry we STILL refuse to engage. We’re STILL an industry of circled wagons.

We STILL think public outreach means hiring a marketing agency to create a campaign that’s pushed out through lobbying associations.... in 2020!!

We don’t need marketing campaigns. We need human conversations.

We need CEOs on Twitter. We need bloggers in the C-Suite. We need petrophysicist podcasters.

America didn’t embrace electric cars on accident. Elon Musk did that. Because he is human. He tweets memes and makes mistakes in public. He embraces his negative perceptions and leans into them.

We ignore them and hide behind what are essentially political action committees. Where is our Elon? Do we really have to wait for Gen Z to take over before we wake up?

Is that really the strategy? Cross our fingers and hope it all works out 20 years from now? Srsly?

So what are you going to do about it?
