Praise is meant to be reinforcing and motivate your child to keep doing things well, BUT sometimes we get stuck just saying “good job” over and over and that’s not motivating for children (or adults😅).

Use these infrographics to learn how to make praise reinforcing again.

Prevent meltdowns in the community by providing your child with something else to do while they wait on you to finish your your errands.

The reality is running errands with your parents is BORING and allowing your child to engage in a specific activity will reduce the chances of them finding other (more inappropriate or destructive) ways to entertain themselves.

Also, give attention to them while they are being good. Don’t wait until they misbehave to react. Praise them for waiting nicely and let them know when it’s almost time to go home.

This can help prevent meltdowns while you are in the community. 💙💚💛🧡❤️💜🖤

Sometimes we have BIG expectations for our children…but are they realistic?

Our children are constantly growing and they may not be able to do something because they aren’t developmentally ready…AND THATS OK!

And if your child has a developmental disability their age may not match their developmental capabilities. Set your expectations on goals that are developmentally appropriate.

If you need help understanding what’s developmentally appropriate and how to identify realistic developmental goals for your child visit www.abasensei.com (link in bio).

Fact: Raising a child with a developmental disability is not easy.

Parents often find themselves putting their child’s needs before their own, BUT I want you to understand that your mental health is a priority. PERIOD!

You are not able to provide quality care if you are stressed out or having panic attacks every day. One of the best ways to care for your child is to care for yourself.
