Tax season shouldn’t be the only time you check in on your finances.

Questions, notices, bookkeeping issues, and business changes can happen all year, and waiting until January can turn small problems into big headaches.

Stay ahead instead of playing catch-up.

A good tax appointment starts before the appointment.

The more organized your documents are, the less time we spend searching and the more time we can spend actually reviewing your return.

Before your next tax meeting, group your income documents, business records, deductible expenses, notices, and prior-year information.

Please don’t send us a digital junk drawer five minutes before the call 😂

Organization is part of good tax preparation.

FAQ: “I filed an extension. Does that mean I had until October to pay?”

No.

For most individual taxpayers, a federal extension gives you more time to file your return, generally through October 15, 2026. It does not extend the April deadline to pay tax that was already due.

If your extended 2025 return is still unfinished, do not wait until October just because the deadline exists. Start gathering your documents now.

Special rules and disaster relief can change deadlines, so your specific situation matters.

Quick question for business owners 👀

If I asked what your business made and spent from January through August, could you answer without opening six apps, three bank accounts, and a mystery spreadsheet? 😂

That answer tells me a lot about how tax season is going to feel.

Good records are not about being fancy. They help you see what’s happening in your business before a filing deadline forces you to figure it out.

Today, September 15, is the federal estimated tax payment deadline for calendar-year taxpayers who are required to make their third 2026 estimated payment.

But here’s what people forget: making a payment today does not replace year-round recordkeeping.

Your income can change. Your expenses can change. Your withholding can change. Your business can grow.

Estimated taxes work best when they’re based on current numbers, not last-minute guesses.

If you’re required to make a payment today, make it, save your confirmation, and keep your books current so your next tax conversation starts with numbers instead of panic.

If you make money that does not have enough tax withheld, tomorrow matters. 👀

The third 2026 federal estimated-tax payment is due September 15 for calendar-year taxpayers who are required to make estimated payments.

That can include some self-employed individuals, business owners, partners, S corporation shareholders and people with substantial non-wage income.

Do not guess what you should send just because somebody online said “pay 25%.” Your required payment depends on your own tax situation.

If estimated taxes have been sitting on your “I’ll handle it later” list, later is officially here.

Rise Financial Boutique can help you review where you stand and get better organized for the rest of the year.
