In this episode of Houston Business RadioX®, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Samantha Spoto , credentialed veterinary technologist and host of the Tell Me About Your Dog podcast.

We talked about burnout, finding a more sustainable path, the power of storytelling, and how Sam turned her love for animals into a platform that also supports small, underfunded rescues.

One message from our conversation really stayed with me: Be the change you want to see in the world.

In this episode of Houston Business Radio, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Mel Carr, Amanda Flannery, Renee Stewart, and Mark Rector for a powerful conversation about community, connection, mentorship, and the impact we create when we choose to show up for others.

We talked about sharing our stories, turning adversity into opportunity, and why opening a door for someone else can sometimes change the direction of their life.

One message stayed with me: your story isn’t over, and what you’ve been through doesn’t disqualify you—it can equip you.

In this episode of Houston Business Radio, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Shadi Yazdan, Strategic AI Advisor and Founder of SY Strategy, to talk about what responsible AI adoption really looks like for business leaders.

We discussed AI privacy, governance, compliance, human oversight, and why the smartest place to start isn’t with the newest tool—it’s with the business problem you’re trying to solve.

One important reminder from our conversation: AI can support your business, but the human still needs to stay in the middle.

In this episode of Houston Business RadioX Beyond the Uniform Series, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Adam Stark, special operations veteran, entrepreneur, and founder of JET.Build.

We talked about military transition, entrepreneurship, leadership, and how veterans can use their grit, adaptability, and problem-solving skills to build meaningful careers beyond the uniform.

Adam also shared a simple but powerful reminder: start networking before you need it. The right conversation can open the door to your next opportunity.

🎙️ In this episode of Houston Business Radio, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Haley Hoover, Founder and CEO of Winnie and Lu, to talk about entrepreneurship, motherhood, resilience, and building a business with purpose.

Haley reminded us that having it all doesn’t mean doing it all. Sometimes, growth requires asking for help, surrounding yourself with the right people, and giving yourself permission to build in a way that is sustainable.

We also talked about the personal story behind Winnie and Lu and how Haley turned her own experiences as a mother into a brand focused on thoughtful, functional products designed to grow with families—not simply be thrown away after the baby years.

🎙️I loved sitting down with my longtime friend Lauren Jefferson, Founder and CEO of FocusCopy, for this episode of Houston Business RadioX®. We talked about how AI is changing marketing, why strong messaging needs systems behind it, and how entrepreneurs can build businesses that actually support the lives they want to live.

If you’re growing a business, navigating change, or wondering how to use AI without losing the human touch, this conversation is for you.

In this episode of Houston Business Radio’s Beyond the Uniform Series, I had the pleasure of sitting down with fellow U.S. Army veteran April Martini to talk about authenticity, vulnerability, resilience, and what it means to truly know yourself.

April reminded us that vulnerability isn’t weakness. Sometimes, the most courageous thing we can do as leaders is get curious about who we are, let down the armor, and allow ourselves to be truly known.

One of my favorite things about being part of a community is seeing what happens when people decide to show up for each other.

Every year, local realtor Carla Rae Southard organizes a school supplies drive to help kids in our community start the school year with what they need. We love being able to participate, and this year, our communities came together to support more than 50 kids with backpacks and school supplies.

Looking at all of those backpacks ready to go is a pretty wonderful reminder that making a difference doesn’t always require something big or complicated. Sometimes it’s simply noticing a need, inviting others to help, and watching people generously step in.

I’m grateful for Carla Rae for continuing to lead this effort year after year, and for everyone who contributed to making sure these kids could walk into school feeling prepared and supported.

This is what community looks like to me. People using what they have, where they are, to make life a little better for someone else.

What’s happening in your community right now that you’re proud to be part of?

🎙️ On this episode of Houston Business Radio, I sat down with Pratyush “PK” Satapathy, founder of PK Design Hub, to talk about branding, storytelling, delegation, and why visibility matters when you’re growing a business. One of my favorite takeaways: focus on your magic and allow other people to work theirs.

🎙️ On this episode of Houston Business Radio’s Beyond the Uniform Series, I had a wonderful conversation with Dr. Angela Dickson about life after military service, finding your next mission, overcoming hyper-competence, and learning that sometimes it has to be self before service.

We also talked about the powerful work Camp Shield is doing to create connection, community, and support for women veterans.
