A front door should do more than welcome you in. It should introduce the character of the home.

This entry pairs timeless brickwork, a deep recessed opening, and classic lantern lighting to create a sense of arrival before the door ever opens.

The classic arch-top door was not selected in isolation. It was custom designed in relationship to the brick architecture and reflects the overall character of the home with custom panel moulding and paired warm brass hardware.

Our client had a piece they needed a place for: a small antique table that had been part of the home they grew up in. Initially the family thought the table had been lost, but once it resurfaced, our client had the table restored by an art conservator. The niche was designed around the table.

The niche sits between the entry and the living room. Two chairs, the table, and the painting our client calls “The Lady” - their first purchase from Art for Heart, a charity auction where proceeds help people afford medical care. Our client is a physician. The space is private enough for morning coffee with their spouse, open enough to feel connected to the house.

Our client did not want flat tile walls. In a shower attached to a primary bath with intention everywhere else, flat walls would have been a missed opportunity.

We used marble trim pieces inside the shower to create baseboards and frames on the walls. We thickened the wall during framing so the shampoo niche could sit deeper and stay hidden. The valve sits off to the right, immediately inside the shower door - the client can turn on the water without stepping in and getting wet. Both sides of the shared shower work the same way.

We placed the “valve before the spray” - design decisions that go unnoticed but are felt.
