THE WEDGE OF TECHNOLOGY
We're in a unique transition in our culture. People are becoming more and more separated as technology is developed to automate human interactions.
This slowly shrinks our opportunities for authentic engagement. And when the need for one-on-one human interaction occurs, here we are, under-conditioned to deliver a genuine experience.
Our nerves play a factor, confidence waivers ever so slightly as we scramble to think on our feet and at least appear confident. How we signal our message trends into ambiguity and becomes subject to misinterpretation.
This isn't an anti-technology rant, however tempting it is to go down that road for me. The truth is, technology is both a blessing and a curse; things get done faster but end-users actually have more work thrust upon them. When was the last time someone pumped your gas, checked your oil, and washed your windows all in one stop?
On the blessing side, we have access to learning and information that will help us improve at an extremely low cost. There's free training, even certifications available right here through LinkedIn. Other companies offer similar and valuable training to offer a taste of what they can do for you.
And I'm one of them. Work with me to update your resume and LinkedIn profile and to ensure you're equipped to search, find and get an offer for a new job, you'll get comprehensive interview training for free.
This isn't a "training lite" version of the program, it's all the learning you'll need to build your skills, manage tough questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the process from the interviewers perspective.
I just figure in this season and under the pressure of our current economy, free is just better than a discount.
