Texas has been experiencing significant wildfire activity. Texas submitted an EMAC -(Emergency Management Assistance Compact) request for Type 1 engines for structural fire support for the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack Counties. Tennessee Mutual Aid System is supporting that request by sending engines, personnel and support vehicles, the following departments, Brentwood, Franklin, Madison County, Knoxville, Murfreesboro, Columbia and Maury County OEM are being deployed. Units left early Sunday morning and will respond to Palo Pinto, Texas. It is a 14 day deployment to support structural fire protection.

Thank you to these departments and personnel for offering their support of this mission.

Safe travels brothers!

At approximately 6:00 AM this morning, four members of the Madison County Fire Department departed for Texas, where they are being deployed to assist with the ongoing North Texas wildfire, which has now grown beyond 88,000 acres.

Our crew will be operating in the Palo Pinto, Texas, area alongside firefighters from across the country. Six engine companies from Tennessee are responding to assist Texas during this devastating incident.

Please join us in praying for our members as they travel safely and begin their work alongside our fellow firefighters. We also ask that you keep all of the first responders and the many individuals and families affected by these wildfires in your thoughts and prayers.

Please keep the people of Texas in your prayers during this difficult time. 🇺🇸🔥

The Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Office (SFMO) proudly announces the theme and submission rules for the 2026 Poster Contest!

This year’s theme “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower”commemorates Fire Prevention Week 2026 (October 4-11, 2026). Developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) this year's theme emphasizes the importance of buying, charging, and recycling lithium-ion batteries safely.

Lithium-ion batteries store a significant amount of energy in a relatively small space. These batteries can overheat, start a fire, or explode if overcharged or damaged. By learning how to BUY, CHARGE, and RECYCLE these batteries safely, you can help prevent a fire in your home.

Today’s homes burn faster than ever. You may have as little as two minutes (or even less time) to safely escape a home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Your ability to escape a home during a fire depends on early warning from smoke alarms and advance planning.

Important dates:
-August 17, 2026: Contest opens for submissions.
-September 25, 2026: Submission period closes.
