A great resource! Take a look!
📋 The reason billions in benefits go unclaimed is not that people do not qualify. It is that no one tells them these programs exist.
Extra Help alone is worth an average of $6,200 a year on prescription drug costs.
Medicare Savings Programs can cover your full $202.90 Part B premium.
Income limits are higher than people expect. Extra Help eligibility goes up to $23,475 for an individual or $31,725 for a couple. Medical expenses over $35 per month can lower your countable income for SNAP, which raises your benefit.
The catch with almost every program on this list: you have to apply. None of them are automatic. Nobody from Social Security or your state Medicaid office is going to call you.
Free Tax Preparation is open to most people, not just those over 60. VITA serves anyone with income under $69K. AARP Tax-Aide accepts any age and has no income cap. Both are run by IRS-certified volunteers.
A few of these (LIHEAP, weatherization, state drug assistance) vary heavily by state. Generous in some, sparse in others. Check what your state actually offers before assuming you do or do not qualify.
