Payroll clients and employers…

The Alabama Overtime Exemption Act is set to expire on June 30, 2025. This law exempted overtime pay from Alabama withholding tax for salaried and hourly employees.

Any exempt overtime wages calculated between April 1 and June 30, 2025 will be reported on the 2nd quarter Alabama A-1 form and annual 2025 W2s in box 14 as required.

If you have any Alabama employees that get overtime pay, we suggest you advise them that the exemption act is expiring. We want to make sure they are prepared for the additional tax that will be withheld for overtime pay on checks dated July 1 and after.
