Here recently I acquired a job, well really was supposed to be a favor for a well connected “contractor/middle man”  within a circle of Facebook contractors group, but ended up slandering my company for some reason.. why I have to make this post is beyond me as I would just call it a day and move on with life, but I was told by other very successful business owners to clear the air if people went digging. So I reached out to this guy in hopes of making a connection obviously he knows and is skilled on the Facebook site enough to run a whole damn business off of it which is awesome, However, I reached out to said guy because I saw him posting in a group of contractors of Austin needing help getting a water heater lit for several days on several different posts, so I thought it couldn’t hurt helping him out. Well I told him not to pay and He said he’d have to pay something, I said call it $50 for my helper and in good faith maybe some leads or jobs come out of the deal. Not plumbing jobs specifically but just jobs. (Busy work) well I get there the tenant let me know the water heater was in attic and I’d need a ladder. So that’s news to me, he forgot to mention all of that to me. So I’m talking with the tenant that hasn’t had HOT WATER in over 2 weeks, 14 days, and that I should’ve known I needed a ladder because they sent people without a ladder in the past. So now here I am trying my best to confirm if I leave and come back I will get compensated for time. Now what should have been a 10-15 minute favor has turned into a 2-3 hour event. Well tried reaching out to this man 2 texts and 2 calls within about 15-30 minutes, but no answer. Well, me being pro active about it and seeing how the tenants have gone without hot water for 14 days straight, She gives me the number she uses to contact maintenance. I call the number thinking maybe it’s the man I’ve been dealing with. Turned out it wasn’t. So I let them know hey these people haven’t had hot water for 2 weeks and that’s ridiculous this needs to be fixed. The best price I can do is $250. She agrees, and everything’s fine. These tenants will have hot water in an hour or two, perfect! Well.. SO not the case! I was then called by the original guy saying I’m trying to steal his customers/clients which obviously wasn’t true. I was making sure I’d get compensation for my time. Unfortunately, he didn’t see it that way, and that’s fine, but someone who stands behind their work wouldn’t have been so insecure in the first place. I run this business off transparency and 100% honesty even when I was a tech in the field in any aspect of work I did! That being said, don’t run to social media slandering a local business that stands behind their work and is not any way shape or form out to steal anyones customers and even if that was the case it’s called  competition. I would be more than glad to stand neck to neck with one of my competitors and see who can get the job sold first! MORAL OF THE STORY, don’t be so insecure you have to run to a Facebook group to slander another persons company for doing the right thing. Just plain ridiculous.
