Happy December everyone!

I've been getting a lot of requests for repairs and I'm sorry I haven't been able to respond to all of them.

I closed the shop for the month of December, but I plan on opening it back up and taking repairs in January.

I should have posted a message about not taking any repairs for December, but I forgot, my apologies. Once I get back into the shop I'll be responding to everyones messages.

Thank you everyone and happy holidays! :)

Today's project, I bought this mixer months ago, but I haven't had time to work on it due to customer repairs. When I bought it, it had a lot of cobwebs and dead old bugs in those cobwebs. It seems to have been sitting around for a long time. It runs, but it bogs down easily without any load and it starts emitting a burning smell when running. It's because much of the grease and oil has been burned up or dried up. I pulled it completely apart and there was a lot of dried up grease. So I'm working on removing the solidified grease, going to polish up some parts and put fresh oil and grease on all necessary points and see what happens. Of course, with The Mixer Doctor on the case this mixer will be healthy and running again soon!
If you have a sick or unhealthy mixer that needs some TLC, schedule a repair with me and let's get it healthy again!

Here's some insider knowledge from The Mixer Doctor. It is my opinion that KitchenAid is not putting enough grease in the recent years KitchenAid mixers and that it seems to be causing some of the gears to fail prematurely. I've had three mixers recently that were struggling and giving off a burning smell while under load, when I open the mixers there's not enough grease inside the mixer to provide adequate protection for the gears. I end up having to replace a gear, clean out the contaminated grease and put in fresh grease to fix it. If your mixer is within recent years, struggling under load and giving off a burning smell, it probably doesn't have enough grease. When I do a grease change, I put at least two to three times the amount of grease you see in these pictures below. Not only does it help with lubricating parts, but it also helps with preventing the mixer from overheating.
