"It depends."
In rigid organizations, these words sound like a cop-out.
In high-stakes transformation, they are the mark of a seasoned leader.
Mature governance recognizes that context is everything.
A flat "yes" or "no" is often a shortcut to failure.
True clarity comes from a framework that navigates variables with logic, not just instinct.
But there is a rule:
"It depends" only works if you can explain exactly what it depends on.
Without a scalable decision engine, it's just ambiguity.
With the ABEL framework, it becomes an accelerator:
1. Align: Define success measures and variables.
2. Baseline: Ground decisions in current data.
3. Execute: Apply logic consistently across the portfolio.
4. Learn: Refine decision rules as you scale.
Scalable governance isn't about having every answer today.
It’s about having a repeatable system to find them tomorrow.
When your decisions are explainable, measurable, and repeatable, you move with the confidence of an architect, not just a builder.
I’d welcome the conversation on building these frameworks into your DNA.
