As our understanding of mental health grows, we grow along with it. Mental health has come a long way since the early nineties when the World Federation of Mental Health (WFMH) officially established the day. Our self-awareness and sensitivity towards it have changed things for the better. Our language surrounding mental health has improved as words like “crazy” and “lunatic” are used less flippantly and we come to better understand that they can be unintentionally hurtful and stigmatizing. While we’ve learned a lot, there’s still so much more we can do to evolve as a society.

Today we would like to recognize Polish American Heritage Month. Congress first deemed August as Polish American Heritage Month in 1981. Later, it moved to October to commemorate the first Polish settlers — as well as the deaths of General Kazimierz Pułaski and Tadeusz Kościuszko (military leaders who fought in the American Revolution). The switch also enabled schools to participate in celebrations.

Whether you’re Polish American or not, it’s important to mark the culture of a people who helped shape this country.🇺🇸🇵🇱

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime—that’s one person every 12 minutes in the U.S.

For nearly four decades now, the country has recognized October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time annually devoted to educating everyone about breast cancer—including metastatic breast cancer (MBC)—and the importance of early detection and timely, high-quality care.

Almost everybody has a favorite teacher, someone who went above and beyond to encourage you because they could see your potential. Today we celebrate World Teachers’ Day! 📚📏✏️

Just as Matilda had Ms. Honey, Harry had Dumbledore, and Cady had Ms. Norbury, maybe you’re a teacher working hard to help young people learn and grow. Considering that teachers mold future generations, taking one day every year to say “thank you” is the least we can do. No matter where you are in the world today, remember that teachers matter!

Today we celebrate the birthday of a man who helped bring forward the notion of “non-violence,” and the tremendous impact this form of social response has had all over the world in the last century. On the International Day of Non-Violence, created by the United Nations in 2007, we look back on the influence of an Indian activist born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi but known the world over as Mahatma Gandhi. The International Day of Non-Violence honors how Gandhi’s work and legacy has impacted global, non-violent protest.❤️

September 4th is World Sexual Health Day.

In 2010, the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) launched the first World Sexual Health Day to bring the global community together to promote sexual health and well-being.

The theme for World Sexual Health Day 2022 is Let’s Talk Pleasure and highlights the importance of including pleasure in sexual health promotion, comprehensive sexual health education and services, and sexual health policy – reinforcing the concept of pleasure as an essential ingredient of sexuality, sexual health, and sexual rights.

🎉Happy Women’s Equality Day! 🎉

Every 26th of August, the nation commemorates American women gaining the right to vote in 1920. The date was proclaimed Women’s Equality Day by Congress in 1973.

To celebrate, we suggest creating a women’s mentoring program at your office, donating to a women-focused cause, or enjoying a book on on your favorite iconic woman.
