“It was rough being pushed out of school. If you’re acting up, or if you miss a certain number of days in the week, you would get sent to in-school suspension. It was a different room near the basement and you would be there the full eight hours. It was like prison. And you’re still missing classwork, you’re still missing homework, you’re missing out on activities. I think we should be given chances. We’re young. Meditation and positive interventions, that's what we need.”

If they thought something was suspicious, we would have to take off our shirts or take down our pants. It was hard being treated like someone I’m really not. At my new school I feel safer without metal detectors.”
