Gold Country Doula Providing Birth and Bereavement Doula Services and Childbirth Education classes My name is Emily Campbell. I am a DONA International Certified Birth Doula.

I am a wife to my high school sweetheart and the mother of 7 amazing children, two of which live in Heaven. My passion for birth is something I’ve had from a very young age. My earliest memories were spent daydreaming about all things pregnancy, birth, and babies. My own journey with motherhood has only deepened this love. Throughout the births of my own children I have discovered the sacredness o

f the labor and birth experience. I also understand the ache of pregnancy loss, as I've lost two babies, and how that can affect your experience through a new pregnancy and anxieties leading up to birth. My hope as a doula is to help educate mothers and families to make their own decisions on how they want their birth to go and to help support them as they try to achieve it. I believe in the empowerment that comes from a woman taking charge of her labor that reveals a deeper strength within her that she never knew was there. I believe that a strong support system offered to mothers, through their partner’s and a doula’s presence, can help them have a beautiful experience that they will relive the rest of their lives. I believe in Mothers and I believe in birth, and I am committed to supporting them through this special time. It is an amazing experience and I would love to have the opportunity to support you on your journey to adding a new member to your family. My services include:

• A free consultation for you to meet me to decide if I would be a good fit for you
• 2 - prenatal visits. At these visits we will discuss relaxation techniques, comfort measures, I will help assist you in forming a birth plan, and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
• Starting at 38 weeks I will be on-call for your birth until you go into labor. During this time I will be available for you to call/text/or email with any questions or concerns.
• I provide continuous support throughout labor and will be there to help you make informed decisions along the way
• I will remain with you one hour after your baby is born to help assist with breastfeeding and any other things you may be in need of
• 1 postpartum visit when your baby is about a week old to discuss your birth experience, answer questions you may have, and assist you with any help you may need

A lot of times I hear women talk about transition in labor with fear.
"I hear it's intense" "It gets so hard" "I don't know how I will cope"
Yes, transition can be hard and intense, and it can also be calm and beautiful. You can feel safe. You can feel supported. You might even have a moment of deep connection.

This can also be transition. You can surrender the fear and remember that hard doesn't have to equal bad. Sometimes, hard is valuable, because it means your baby is almost here.

Within 30 minutes of this picture her baby was in her arms. Was there moments of intensity? Yes. Did it break her? No.

Trust your body's ability to do what it need to do meet your baby. Surround yourself with support that feels safe and encouraging. Get excited! Fight fear with joy. Your baby is almost here.

When baby girl decided she wanted to be born on the sidewalk outside of the hospital, Dr. Dad had to put all that medical training to work to deliver his sweet girl. He did great. Turns out, all that was needed was some loving hands to welcome his little one.
It also helped that his wife, an L&D nurse, was able to reassure his efforts through it all.
What a great team they all were! And what an exciting story to tell their girl someday.

Even when an epidural is utilized that doesn't mean we can't move around. We can even try out hands and knees!
