Join the party at the Iowa City Bike Library !
About a year ago, I joined the Iowa City Bike Library as treasurer despite the fact that I don’t own a bike! It’s been a joy to be part of this vibrant organization supporting the work they do in the community.
Over the past two years, the Bike Library has been in the quiet phase of a capital campaign called Bikes Create Community with a goal to raise $1,000,000 for the following initiatives:
-Investing in youth and teen programming to equip the next generation with skills and confidence
-Redesigning our outdoor space into an educational greenspace and third place for connection
-Elevating our shop to better serve patrons with dignity, efficiency, and care
-Becoming a resiliency hub—a place for support, repair, and refuge during times of need
-Creating financial security by paying off the mortgage
During the quiet phase of the campaign, we have worked with an incredible team to expand the Bike Library’s network of passionate donors and sponsors and have raised a total of $740,000 in pledges. We are very grateful for this response!
The next step is to take the Bikes Create Community Capital Campaign public with a launch party on September 4th @ 4:30 at the Bike Library. This public phase means our efforts switch from behind-the-scenes, high-dollar and corporate asks to an ask to the entire community. It is an opportunity for us to introduce our friends who are not familiar with our space and talk about the programming.
I invite you to join me and take a tour so you can see what makes this place so great! Please RSVP for the event: https://www.mixily.com/event/3646979627138488641
The energy is always high and the vibes are always good at a Bike Library party!
