There was a path that would've cut a mile off. I filmed it on the way out because I knew I'd be tempted.

I wasn't tempted because I'm weak. I was tempted because it was genuinely easier and no one would ever have known.

That's the only kind of test that counts. Nobody's checking. That's the point.

753 days sounds impressive from the outside. From the inside it was never 753 of anything.

It was today. Then today again. You can't do a streak, you can only do a day, and the number is just what's left behind after enough of them.

Stop trying to win the year. Win the next 24 hours.

In the Marines nobody lowered a standard because someone was struggling. The standard held and you came up to it, or you kept working until you did.

I've watched a lot of leaders do the opposite. Soften the number so nobody feels bad, then wonder why the whole team drifted down to it.

Hold the line. It's the most respectful thing you can do for someone.

It never says quit. It says rest. It says be reasonable. It says you've earned a break, and sometimes that's even true.

The trick is that it sounds like wisdom right up until it becomes a pattern.

You don't have to argue with it. Just notice which one is talking before you agree.

I hear "I don't have an hour" constantly, and it's usually true.

But the hour was never the requirement. Take the call on your feet. Park at the far end. Walk the terminal instead of taking the seat. None of that needs a calendar block.

The people who stay consistent didn't find more time. They stopped needing a perfect window.

At 47 my body was sending invoices I couldn't pay. Sciatica, a gout flare on a work trip, and a number on the scale I'd stopped looking at.

I didn't fix it with a program. I fixed it with a decision I repeated until it stopped being a decision.

43 pounds took about eight months. The habit took two weeks. Build the habit first.

The first time out I could barely handle 20 pounds. It was embarrassing and I did it anyway.

The number went up because I kept showing up, not because I was ready. Ready is something you become on the way, never before you leave.

Wherever your starting weight is, that's the right weight. Start there.

There's no audience at 5:30. No one's watching, no one's clapping, and nobody would know if you skipped.

That's the part that builds something. Not the visible work. The work that has no witness.

Who you are when the room's empty is who you actually are.

When something stops working, the instinct is to change everything. New plan, new tools, new schedule, all Monday.

Then it works or it doesn't and you've learned nothing, because you can't tell which change did it.

Move one variable. Give it long enough to answer. Boring, and it's the only thing that compounds.
