🤔Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what leadership really is. It’s not about titles—it’s about the IMPACT we have on others. Here are four guiding principles I live by:

1. Your team’s success is your success 🤝. A USMC Captain once told me the ribbons on his chest were earned by the Marines he led. I’ve always strived to ensure my team’s success first.

2. Lead by listening—your team’s voices matter 👂. I’ve found the best ideas often come from those closest to the work. Listening deeply builds trust and unlocks solutions. The 3 L’s of Leadership® apply here: listening with the intent to hear, learning from the conversation, and leaning into the solution.

3. Lift others up first — empowerment is the foundation of leadership. I’ve seen time and time again that when you focus on elevating your team, they achieve extraordinary things. It’s the ultimate measure of leadership.

4. Stay humble and curious—learning never stops💡. Staying humble and curious is a cornerstone of the four pillars of servant leadership. Every day, I remind myself I don’t have all the answers. The more I learn from others, the more I grow—and that growth never stops.

At the end of the day, leadership is about impact and heart. I’m committed to walking this journey every day. I hope you’ll join me—because together, we lead with purpose.

Season IV begins with a powerful leadership question: What do you do when the plan changes?
In this opening episode of Off the Record: The Real Talk Podcast – Leadership in Real Time, host Allie Braswell explores one of the most defining moments in leadership — when the strategy that once made perfect sense suddenly no longer fits the reality of the moment.
Through the leadership lessons of Kodak’s decline and a personal story from his leadership experience at Disney, Allie examines the signals teams look for during uncertainty, and the critical moves leaders must make to adapt and move forward.
Because leadership is not about defending the plan.
It’s about leading the adjustment.

As a leader, are you motivating or manipulating your team?🤔

In the journey of high road leadership, acknowledging our humanness isn’t just about self-awareness. It’s about ensuring we genuinely inspire rather than control. Doing the right thing means leading with integrity and encouraging growth out of genuine care.

While working on a new workshop based on John C. Maxwell’s book High Road Leadership, I am reminded that the most meaningful leadership moments occur when everyone on the team feels truly valued and understood. A leader's vulnerability and display of humanness are essential.

That’s the high road we aim to walk together.⭐️

I’d love to hear your thoughts: How do you ensure you’re leading with authenticity and motivating rather than manipulating?

Drop your insights in the comments—let’s learn from each other!
