Year-end is almost upon us! Are your licensing, legal and compliance teams ready for renewal season?
The vast majority of collection license renewals are due prior to the end of the year. If your company has undergone any major changes such as an address change, ownership change, collections manager change, etc., these changes need to be filed appropriately prior to renewal of your collection licenses. Failure to do so could result in regulatory deficiencies, penalty fees and / or license suspension.
Lastly, the Beneficial Ownership Information Report (“BOIR”) is a new filing that is also due prior to year-end. This federal requirement applies to all corporations operating in the US under the Corporate Transparency Act which went into effect on January 1st, 2024. The regulatory bureau is a newly formed federal agency called the Financial Crime Enforcement Network.
