Most of this work will be buried by the end of the project, but that doesn't make it any less important.

The crew spent the day trenching and installing the power and communication lines that will serve the home long after construction is complete. Every run had to be carefully planned, laid out, and coordinated with the other systems already in place before the trench could be backfilled.

It's the kind of work that rarely makes the final project photos, but it's what allows everything else in the home to function as intended. Reliable power, internet, and utilities all start with the work happening below ground.

The best projects aren't just defined by the finishes you see. They're built on hundreds of details like these that make the home work for years to come.

A few different job sites, a few different stages, one shared focus: building spaces that feel considered from the ground up.

From mountain-view decks and custom kitchens to framing, masonry, and exterior work, the crew’s been moving between projects that each come with their own rhythm, challenges, and details. Some are just beginning. Others are starting to feel like home.

That’s one of the most rewarding parts of the process, watching each layer slowly come together over time.

A look at what we’ve been working on lately :)

Some ceilings completely change the feeling of a space, and this one does exactly that.

The warmth, scale, and craftsmanship of the timber work bring so much character into the build, while completely transforming the way the entire home feels. Huge shoutout to Vermont Timber Frames for the incredible work and attention to detail that went into this feature.

One of those elements you notice immediately the second you walk in.

Getting the windows in changes everything.

Up until now, this has just been framing and structure. But once the windows go in, you start to understand how the house actually works. Where the light hits, what the views feel like, how the rooms connect.

We worked through most of the second floor today, setting and sealing each unit so it’s tight and ready for the long run.
Ran into one hiccup. The primary bedroom windows came as three separate pieces instead of one unit, so that opening will need to be adjusted before install.

It’s the kind of detail that slows things down for a minute, but getting it right now is what makes everything else fall into place later.

This is a look at a deck build mid-process.

We’re essentially creating the structure that will support the finished deck you eventually walk on. In this phase, we had to remove part of the back edge of the frame because it wasn’t sitting quite right, extend it slightly, and install the final support posts and main beam.

At one point, part of the structure shifted before everything was fully secured, so we paused, rebuilt that section, and added extra bracing to make sure everything was solid and safe before continuing.

What you’re seeing here is that in-between stage. Just the bones of the deck, carefully measured, adjusted, and reinforced so that everything that comes next sits exactly the way it should.

This stage almost doesn’t even feel like a jobsite.

Something about the raw wood, the light coming through, the openness of it all… it feels calm, like you stepped into a completely different world for a second.

Before drywall, before finishes, before anything gets covered up. Just structure, texture, and space.
It’s honestly one of the most beautiful parts of the entire process.

Do you notice the framing stage when you walk through a build, or is it something you usually overlook?

If you’re thinking about building, let’s talk it through and bring it to life.

One control line can set the entire project.

In this case, it establishes the face of wall and keeps the retaining wall running parallel to the house from the very start.

Stairs like this are never just a straight build.

There’s the plan, and then there’s what actually happens on site. Layouts shift, posts don’t always land where they should, materials run short, and sometimes you have to take things apart to get them right.

That’s part of the process.

You can see it here, from cutting stringers and setting posts, to dialing in how the stairs meet the landing, to adjusting rail transitions so everything lines up the way it should. Even the weather had a say this time around.

Have you ever wondered how you support a counter top?

One of the ways we do it is by using solid metal supports recessed into the top of the cabinetry and notched down into the carcass so the countertop can sit securely on top.

It’s one of those behind-the-scenes details that most people never see, but it plays a huge role in keeping larger overhangs strong, level, and built to last.

This is the stage where everything starts to come into focus.
After the structure is in, it’s the finish work that begins to define the space, trim, doors, baseboard, window details. The things that don’t always stand out on their own, but completely change how a home feels once they’re in.

You start to see how each room will function. Openings become defined. Lines clean up. What was once just framing begins to feel intentional.

Countertops are in progress, with a few final pieces still to be completed, and each step is pushing the project closer to move-in.

It’s a lot of smaller, detail-driven work at this point, but this is where a build really comes together.
