More than two-thirds of nonprofits use targeted digital communications—but are they using them strategically?
Digital engagement goes far beyond your website.
It happens in your:
📩 Emails
📱 Social posts
💬 DMs and comments
📝 Event and volunteer forms
📚 Resource downloads
📣 Advocacy campaigns
❤️ Thank-you pages
Every digital touchpoint is more than a transaction. It is a moment of trust.
When someone registers for an event, downloads a resource, signs a petition, shares your post, or completes a form, they are telling you:
This matters to me.
That is the moment to invite them deeper into your mission.
A donate button hidden on your homepage is not a complete fundraising strategy. The real opportunity is recognizing when someone is already engaged—and creating a meaningful next step.
A first-time donor should not receive a generic receipt and disappear into a newsletter list. Their gift should begin a relationship.
Someone gives $25?
Thank them like they made the work possible—because they did.
Your digital touchpoints are not just marketing channels. They are fundraising, stewardship, and relationship-building channels.
The donate button may be the first step.
How will you shape the rest of their journey?

Partnering with advocates who make a difference.

A huge thank you to the Recovery Network of Programs Board of Directors and management team for their  leadership and commitment to strengthening recovery services in our community.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support leaders who are creating meaningful impact every day.

One of the most meaningful parts of this work is building long-term relationships with leaders who are deeply committed to their communities. 🤝

We’ve had the privilege of supporting the founder of Today over the years, so it was especially meaningful to facilitate a Board Workshop for their leadership team and board.

Their commitment to expanding mental health support for the Latine community is incredibly important, and we’re grateful to play even a small role in strengthening the leadership behind that impact. 💛

Here are 3 tips in Perfecting the Elevator Pitch:

→ Make it Natural
The best conversations don’t feel rehearsed, but they should feel comfortable. Stay curious, ask thoughtful questions, and pay attention to what resonates with the person in front of you.

→ Make it Personal
People connect with authenticity. When you share why the mission matters to you, it invites others to care too.
→ Make the Connection

A great conversation shouldn’t end when the interaction does. Find simple ways to continue building the relationship afterward.

I’ve been reflecting on some recent workshops, and a question that comes up quite a bit is:

“How can we start to build real connections with donors as a small team?”

It’s an honest question. When time and capacity are limited, connection can feel like something that is just out of reach.

But in practice, it’s what sustainable fundraising is built upon.

People don’t just give to people. People give to people they feel connected to.
And that connection is often built in small, consistent moments.

It doesn’t require a large team and resources, it requires intention, genuine care, and a real interest in others.

A quick personal thank-you call, a short note sharing the impact of a recent gift, or simply asking a donor what they care about (and listening) can go a long way.

What’s one way your organization is building stronger connections with your donors?

We say we center community voices…
but are we actually letting people speak for themselves?

Too often, stories get filtered, rewritten, and polished—
and the real voice gets lost.

The most powerful stories?
They’re unfiltered

Because it’s not about telling better stories,
It’s about making space for the right voices to tell them.

How are you making space for people to share their own stories?
