Already an established ceramic artist in Spain, Jaume Ribalta arrived in Jingdezhen only to find himself a beginner again. Over the next four years, he explored porcelain-clay mining sites, water-powered mills, and historic wharves, treating Jingdezhen’s living heritage of traditional porcelain-making as his teacher and learning anew how clay, water, and fire come together to make porcelain. Chinese traditions and Spanish culture meet in works such as the teapot he created in support of Jingdezhen’s World Heritage bid and his “Soul House” . The film follows this international artist as he relearns his craft, reinvents his work, and transforms what he has learned in Jingdezhen into art that travels the world.
