Fun Fact: Snapping turtles are ancient "living fossils" that have roamed the earth for 60 to 90 million years. Belonging to the family Chelydridae, they famously survived the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs. Side by side NHDES survey for the NH section of Balch Lake. Improvement in most areas with a milfoil comeback in the northern area. Top priority to get this area under control. Many variables can lead to milfoil comebacks, including lake bottom type (affecting harvest quality), the existence of seeds in the sediment, and water/wind current (areas where fragments from boating tend to move too).
