One of the frequent laments we hear from leaders: "When will things finally slow down?" Our honest response? They won't.

We've spent years watching brilliant leaders struggle — not because they lacked skill, but because they couldn't let go of what made them successful in the first place. That's the expert trap, and almost no one talks about it.

Rachel Heisten sat down with Andy Wilson with Doing Business in Bentonville to dig into all of it — unlearning, leading through permanent change, and why curiosity might be your most underrated leadership tool.

It was a GREAT conversation. Thank you, Andy! Full episode below. 👇

Don’t mind us…we’re just over here geeking out about metal!

We always enjoy it when our clients allow us access to more than a conference room. Really appreciated getting a tour of the TW Metals Wichita warehouse…fascinating processes!

Courageous leaders don’t dodge uncomfortable conversations—they step into them willingly. They know that feedback isn’t criticism, it’s a GIFT. When given with care and clarity, it helps people grow, teams trust, and cultures stay healthy.

Do you want to learn how to say hard things with care and clarity? LifeWork can help!

We worked from the public library for a change of scenery today. New idea: whisper meetings - meetings that require all business decisions to be made through extremely quiet tones and/or whispering! Genius, right?

Need to build a strategy for 2026? We can help!

Thank you, Ben, for your kind words - anytime a strategy session feels like time "flew by" - we count that as a major win!

Testimonial:
“Working with Rachel & Alissa at Lifework on our new 3 year strategic plan was a fantastic experience. They helped our organization develop a plan that was comprehensive, pragmatic, and uniquely tailored to fit our mission and the work we do in our community. Lifework was attentive to our needs as a non-profit and they approached each session with a mix of in-depth preparation and nimble flexibility. The time that our staff & board spent with them just flew by and yielded great results. I cannot recommend them highly enough!”

Lunch with clients this week in Exton, PA…we had a “Thanksgiving leftover” sandwich tasting from two different places: The Bob (with cranberry sauce) and The Gobbler. Both were YUMMY, but cranberry sauce was the winning addition. Stuffing on a sandwich? Yes please. 👏🏻

Thank you TW Metals for being awesome (as usual)!
