“Closed mouths do not get fed!”

That's the mindset Myah Njoroge is bringing to the BOLD Women's Summit.

A 2025 University of Arkansas graduate with a degree in Organizational Leadership, Myah is just beginning her professional journey, but she's already learning the power of putting herself out there.

Rather than waiting for opportunities to come to her, she started reaching out directly to business owners. That bold step led to more than four opportunities this summer to gain experience and build her career.

Now, as a member of the BOLD Attendee Experience Committee, she's helping bring the Summit to life while looking forward to learning from women who have paved the way.

Myah wants to hear how local women broke through in their industries, built their reputations, and found confidence as leaders.

Her story is a great reminder that you don't have to wait until you're established in your career to be BOLD. Sometimes, being BOLD is simply being willing to ask.

Join Myah and women at every stage of their journey November 10 at the BOLD Women's Summit.

What if the person you stopped disappointing was yourself?

Meet Mitzi Starkweather of Mitzi Starkweather Photography, one of our BOLD Women’s Summit keynote speakers! An internationally awarded portrait photographer, educator, and metastatic breast cancer thriver, Mitzi creates space for people to see and accept their truest selves.

Her keynote, “How to Disappoint People,” takes on people-pleasing and putting ourselves last with humor, heart, and one question: “What if I become a people-pleaser who pleases… me?”

You can also join her breakout, “Shine a Light on Your Shame,” to explore how owning your story can help you show up boldly.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone who sees your potential and invites you to the table.

For Kim Cox, CEO of the Ozark Gateway Association of REALTORS & past Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Board President, leadership is about more than finding your own place. It's about helping other women find theirs. “Someone once saw something in me, asked me to join, and changed my path in this very way.”

Kim believes that when women are encouraged to step into leadership, they don't just fill a seat. They strengthen the entire effort and open doors for the next woman.

What is she looking forward to at this year's BOLD Women's Summit? Listening, learning, and soaking up the wisdom of the women around her.

She says being surrounded by so many great minds gives her chills, so she might need to bring a jacket!

Join Kim and an incredible community of women November 10 at the BOLD Women's Summit.

Back by popular demand! You asked for Rachel to return to BOLD, and we heard you. Dr. Rachel Dennison, whom you may remember as Dr. Rachel Oblon, is back with both a keynote and a breakout session!

Keynote: Leadership Lessons from the Friendships We Make and Lose

What can our friendships teach us about leadership? Rachel will explore how the relationships we build, navigate, and sometimes outgrow shape our courage, communication, boundaries, and personal growth.

Breakout: The Strengths and Blind Spots of Leadership: Understanding Your Leadership Style and Where You Can Grow

Every leadership strength has the potential to become a blind spot. In this interactive session, you’ll explore seven leadership styles, recognize your natural tendencies, and learn practical ways to adapt your approach and grow.

Two opportunities to learn from a speaker you loved last year! Join us November 10!

Who’s in your cabinet?

For Cynthia Olmstead, Business Development Officer & VP at Southwest Missouri Bank, having a trusted group of women to turn to for feedback and support can make all the difference when you’re standing at the threshold of a BOLD decision.

“When we see ourselves as the next one in a group of many who have gone before us and more who will come behind, it helps us have the ability and confidence to keep moving forward.”

That’s also what Cynthia is looking forward to at this year’s BOLD Women’s Summit: connecting with other women and hearing their stories and advice.

Who knows? You might leave BOLD with a few new women in your cabinet.

Being BOLD means showing up, speaking up, and holding the door open for the next woman.

For Sarah Abernathy, Owner & Chief Financial Officer of Abernathy Roofing, that means stepping into rooms that challenge her, even before she feels completely confident she belongs.

As a female leader in a male-dominated industry, Sarah believes in trusting the value she brings and encouraging other women to do the same.

“Make sure you aren’t the only woman who gets there! Selflessly hold the door open behind you and lead as many as you can to do the same!”

Sarah also helps bring BOLD to life through committee service and volunteering, both last year and this year. We’re grateful for the time, energy, and encouragement she brings!
