Our deepest sympathy and condolences goes out to the family of TYRE NICHOLS. Continuous prayers for the family and friends. 💔

We had the opportunity to watched the stationary cameras and body-cam of the incident and found this incident to be extremely disturbing to watch. This was a brutal encounter that should not have happened to any human being! No excuses will justify the acts of these officers. The behavior is unacceptable and undermine the integrity of the law enforcement community. These officers DO NOT represent the vast majority of the men and women in law enforcement. This is NOT the first time something like this happened by the hands of police, it’s been a trend for decades. I absolutely appreciate the quick response by Chief Cerelyn Davis on how she handled this matter! However, more officers on scene need to be charge as well for their actions, neglect of duty to render medical care, to include EMT/EMS.

We are a professional organization tasked to serve and protect communities. We condemn the unlawful violence against civilians. We need to do better! We need to police our own and enforce zero tolerance for unethical behaviors.

The five former Memphis Police officers, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Desmond Mills Jr., Emmitt Martin III and Justin Smith have since been terminated on Jan. 18th. They are each facing seven counts: second-degree murder; aggravated assault, act in concert; two counts of aggravated kidnapping; two counts of official misconduct; and official oppression.

There are three primary mental health concerns that you may encounter serving in the military.

Postraumtic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Traumatic events, such as military combat, assault, disasters or sexual assault can have long-lasting negative effects such as trouble sleeping, anger, nightmares, being jumpy and alcohol and drug abuse. When these troubles don't go away, it could be PTSD. The 2014 JAMA Psychiatry study found the rate of PTSD to be 15 times higher than civilians.

Depression. More than just experiencing sadness, depression doesn't mean you are weak, nor is it something that you can simply "just get over." Depression interferes with daily life and normal functioning and may require treatment. The 2014 JAMA Psychiatry study found the rate of depression to be five times higher than civilians.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). A traumatic brain injury is usually the result of significant blow to the head or body. Symptoms can include headaches, fatigue or drowsiness, memory problems and mood changes and mood swings.

Excellent piece on CBS This Morning about the FASTC (Foreign Affairs Security Training Center) and what Diplomatic Security puts fellow US diplomats through prior to going to high threat assignments.

This training has evolved through the years and I only anticipate it will continue to get better. Good stuff.

I’ve always supported law enforcement professionals and will continue to do so when they do their job in a professional manner without compromising the law enforcement oath of honor.

These officers went too far and betrayed their integrity, their character and the public trust. They MUST have the courage to hold themselves and other officers accountable for their actions. They MUST always maintain the highest ethical standards and uphold the values of the community and the agency they serve. These officers did not upload the law enforcement Oath of Honor.

As you can see in the video, the first officer clearly do not know how to de-escalate. De-escalation is key when dealing with the general public. If anything, the officer escalated the situation which could have been handled differently.

The officer’s arrested and peppered sprayed a man when he films son’s arrest over traffic violation. The man have all right to film the officer and he was doing so from a safe distance without any interference to the officer. The bodycam video depicted that the man was NOT interfering with the officers arrest/investigation. As you can see from the video, the man was across the street and the officer walked to him. 😡

I believe the arrest was excessive and unnecessary and therefore the officer need to be reprimanded.

The truth is, 81% of Black Americans want just as much or GREATER police presence in their neighborhoods, as reported by Gallup. Hear that, BLM?

Situational awareness is 🔑 Your life depends on it.

Condition Red: Ready to Act
Locked and Ready

In Condition Red you’ve determined that the threat is real and although you may or may not be in the middle of a conflict you are READY TO ACT. You’re mentally prepared to carry out your plan.

The difference between Condition Red and Condition Yellow may at first seem unclear. In Condition Red, not only have you determined that the threat is very real, but more importantly you’ve made a mental decision to act if the trigger from Condition Yellow is tripped. It’s a very subtle but important difference. You not only have a plan on what to do and when to act (Condition Yellow) but you are prepared to carry out that act. This is especially important when the decision that you made requires a lethal response. Let me give you an example that illustrates the difference:

The Two Officers...

There are two police officers on duty. Someone approaches them stating that around the corner there is some crazy guy waving around a gun. As they quickly move to the corner and yell “Drop your weapon!” in a flash the man begins to draw his gun on them and the first officer shoots him right away while the other is standing there looking surprised. What happened?

The difference is that the first officer mentally tells himself, “I’ll tell the guy to drop his weapon and show us his hands. If he complies we’ll arrest him, if he begins to draw his gun on us, I’m shooting him. End of story.” This officer is in Condition Red. The second officer makes a similar plan but is not quite certain of his decision to act on it. The plan was made, but the decision to act on that plan wasn’t set in his mind and therefore he was susceptible to suprise and hesitation. He was still in Condition Orange.

Condition Red is all about knowing that if your opponent steps over that mental line in the sand (your trigger) you know what to do and YOU WILL DO IT. No hesitation. No questions asked.

It’s your job to learn the Color Code of Awareness: Developing a Combat Mindset. Train yourself about threats and how to identify them.

Used by the military, law enforcement and CIA agents alike, The Color Code of Awareness will help you see danger before it strikes and may just save your life.

A new proposal introduced Monday would require anyone who wants to be a police officer in California to get a bachelor’s degree or turn 25 before starting their career.

Assembly member Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-Los Angeles) said the change could help reduce the number of times police officers are involved in excessive use of force cases.

Current law requires officers to be 18 years old with a high school diploma. California Highway Patrol officers must be at least 20 to join the agency... https://lnkd.in/eSB8K8F

What’s your thoughts on this approach?

Ghost Guns are NOT BANNED in Baltimore City even though the Homicide rate is extremely high. 🧐
According to the ATF, ghost gun kits offers easy access to criminals that would otherwise not be able to obtain.

With the proper tools individuals can manufacture a fully functioning firearm with no background check.

Since the weapons are not fully functioning when shipped, the Gun Control Act doesn't apply.

Operation: Crime and Justice contacted Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young, Mayor Elect Brandon For Baltimore, Councilman Isaac Yitzy Schleifer, and Council President Elect Nick Mosby regarding the increase in ghost guns on City streets.

All the City leaders remained silent when questioned on efforts to address the sale of ghost gun kits in Baltimore; leaders in Washington D.C. meanwhile have outlawed build-it-yourself firearm kits.

Baltimore Police Department hands are full diligently fighting crimes and trying their very best to keep citizens safe in Baltimore.

Guess who’s running Baltimore City and DC? Democrats!
