I didn't have to ask permission. I didn't have to worry about a territory. I just decided to go.

That's what building something on your own terms looks like.

I founded Get Honest Solutions to do one thing: help businesses navigate the overly complicated, often dishonest world of merchant services and point of sale — with transparency, real expertise, and the work-life balance that most people never find.

Now I want to help others find that same success and freedom.

I'm specifically looking for experienced merchant services reps who are done with the micromanagement, done having their income capped, and done grinding for someone else's vision.

I've been keeping a secret and I'm excited to finally share it.

A business owner once handed me a stack of his monthly processing statements.

Sealed. Never opened.

I asked him why.

He said, "Why would I? I don't understand any of it anyway."

That's not a him problem. That's an industry problem.

The credit card processing industry makes money when you don't ask questions. Confusing statements, mystery fees, and pricing models designed to hide the markup aren't accidents.

They're the business model.

If you've never calculated your effective rate, here's how:

Total fees for the month ÷ Total processing volume = Your effective rate

It doesn't tell you the whole story, but it tells you whether there's a story worth investigating.

Your credit card processing statement called. It wants to know if you're ever going to log into your portal and look at it.

Seriously though, mystery fees showing up on statements that nobody looks at is basically a processor's business model.

A $54.95 charge here. An "annual fee" there. A non-compliance fee for a questionnaire nobody told you about. It adds up fast and quietly.

I've seen it too many times. Smart, successful business owners paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars in fees they never agreed to, simply because logging into yet another portal to decode a confusing statement was never going to make the to do list.

Sometimes life has a way of putting things in perspective. 🦵

I recently found myself on a knee scooter, foot in a boot, navigating my days a little differently than usual. And in those quiet moments, a thought hit me:

"I can't help but wonder what this injury would look like if I had a different career, one that required me to show up at an office every day."

Would I be burning through PTO? Stressing about how my absence affects a team? Feeling guilty for not pushing through the pain just to be present?

Instead, I get to heal on my own terms. I work from my couch when I need to. I rest when my body tells me to. I take calls without commuting. I keep serving my clients without skipping a beat, just at a slower pace.

This has been on repeat in my brain lately.

In the past month we went from ski bums to beach bums.

The older I get, the more I realize something important:
When I look back on my life, I doubt I will ever say, “I wish I worked more.”

What I will remember are the moments, the adventures, and the time with the people who matter most.
