I share a LOT of job opportunities on Facebook. Some I'm personally hiring for, some are from other employers, and some I simply come across and think might help somebody.
I do that because I believe in connecting people with opportunities. Always have.
BUT, I think there's a misunderstanding about what working in staffing and recruiting actually means....
When I help someone get hired through my agency, I'm not just passing along a phone number or making an introduction. I am quite literally reviewing tons of resumes, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, communicating with employers, navigating background checks and onboarding, and ultimately putting my professional reputation behind the people I send to my clients.
And getting someone hired isn't the finish line!
My clients aren't paying for someone to show up for three days or a week. They're counting on ME to help build a dependable workforce.
When someone accepts a position and immediately starts looking for something else, that doesn't just affect them. It affects the employer, the staffing agency, the team that was counting on them, and the recruiter who worked to get them there.
Now, am I saying you should stay somewhere you're miserable? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Y'all know that ain't me BUT
Expectations matter. Being honest about what you're looking for BEFORE accepting a position matters.
And please understand that when I share another company's job opening, it doesn't mean I'm hiring for it!!! I didn't have influence over their hiring decisions, not am I encouraging people I've just placed to jump ship. This is quite literally my livelihood too.
I love helping people. I will probably never stop sharing opportunities, resources, and information that might benefit someone.
But helping people this way is also my income and there is a whole lot more happening behind the scenes than most people realize.
Just some food for thought from the other side of the hiring process! ❤️
