Creative Clutter

Creative people tend to see possibility everywhere.

A piece of fabric could become something. That empty jar might be perfect for a project. And of course you need the supplies for the three hobbies you enjoy-and the two you’re planning to learn. 😂

The problem isn’t a lack of creativity. Sometimes it’s simply that our ideas multiply faster than our time.

I call this creative clutter.

When supplies, unfinished projects, and “someday” ideas start taking over, it may be time to decide which projects still excite you—and which ones you’re ready to release.

You don’t need to stop creating.

You just need enough space to actually create.

Anybody else have more projects than time?

Maybe mornings feel chaotic. Maybe clutter keeps migrating from room to room. Maybe you’ve organized the same space three times and it still doesn’t stay that way.

Ever walk into a cluttered room and immediately feel overwhelmed?

There’s a reason for that. Your brain is taking in more than you realize-even when you’re trying not to see it.

Sometimes clutter is exhausting before you ever touch a thing.

Sometimes the answer isn’t a better bin.

You can organize and reorganize the same things over and over, but if there’s simply too much to manage, the system can only do so much.

Sometimes making your home work better starts with having less to manage in the first place.

There’s a difference between clutter and staging.

Clutter is waiting for a decision.
Staging means the decision has been made - donate, sell, return, relocate, put away.

It may not look completely finished yet, but everything has a next step.

And that’s progress.

Transition Clutter

Have you ever looked around your home and realized you’re still storing things from a life you’re no longer living?

Baby gear when the kids are grown.

Work clothes from a career you’ve left.

Things from a move, a divorce, a loss-or simply a season that ended before you were ready for it to end.

Life transitions often happen faster than we can physically and emotionally catch up with them.

Our belongings can become a kind of pause button-leaving pieces of the old life in place while we figure out what comes next.

There’s no deadline for that process.

But eventually, making decisions about what still belongs can help your home begin to reflect the life you’re living now.
