I came across this little guy and thought it was a good opportunity for some pest control education.

This is a jumping spider, likely a bold jumping spider. Unlike many pests we’re trying to keep away from your home, jumping spiders can actually be beneficial.

They’re active hunters that feed on flies, mosquitoes, moths, and other small insects. They don’t rely on webs to catch their food—they actually stalk and jump on their prey.

They may look a little intimidating up close, but they generally want nothing to do with us.

Part of pest control is knowing what needs to be controlled and what can be left alone. Not everything with 6 or 8 legs is the enemy!
