This month, we recognize Appendix Cancer Awareness Month and stand with everyone affected by this rare disease.

Although appendix cancer is uncommon, every diagnosis matters. For retired Department of Energy (DOE) and Atomic Weapons Employer (AWE) workers, staying informed about your health and reporting any new or concerning symptoms to your healthcare provider is important.

If you've worked at a covered nuclear facility and have been diagnosed with a serious illness, understanding your EEOICPA benefits and available resources can make a meaningful difference. Every worker's medical and employment history is unique, and it's important to explore the benefits and support that may be available to you.

If you're an eligible retired energy worker, don't forget that the National Supplemental Screening Program (NSSP) offers free medical screenings designed to help monitor your health and identify occupational illnesses as early as possible.

World Lung Cancer Day | August 1

Today, on World Lung Cancer Day, we honor the strength of those living with lung cancer, remember those we've lost, and raise awareness about the importance of early detection.

For many former Department of Energy (DOE) and Atomic Weapons Employer (AWE) workers, years of occupational exposure to hazardous substances—including beryllium, asbestos, silica, radiation, and other toxic materials—may have increased the risk of developing serious respiratory illnesses and certain cancers.

If you worked at a covered nuclear facility and have been diagnosed with lung cancer or another qualifying illness, you may be eligible for medical benefits and compensation through the EEOICPA.

Have you registered with the National Supplemental Screening Program (NSSP)? This free health screening program is available to eligible retired energy workers and provides ongoing medical screenings designed to detect occupational illnesses as early as possible. If you haven't enrolled yet, now is a great time to learn more about this valuable benefit.
