Peppers & tomatoes are finally going into the soil this week! We can’t wait for juicy heirloom tomatoes and roasted Calabrian chili peppers this summer.

We’re about 2 weeks behind last year’s schedule but these plants don’t like cold roots, and our spring has been wildly unpredictable. We’ve waited until soil temperatures are consistently above 65° and now we plant!

It’s easy to compare our crops to so many incredible farmers and feel behind, but we’re all just doing our best. Don’t forget to stay hydrated when working in the heat! 💦

Behind the scenes of what’s growing at the farm lately… 🫜

This week we’re harvesting Sun Angel baby spinach, Bright Lights rainbow swiss chard, curly kale, vibrant purple-stemmed kale, Hakurai salad turnips and beautiful pink crunchy radishes.

Coming soon: Sweet spring snap peas! 🫛The edible flowers are adorable and we’re excited to bring these pea pods to the farm stand. We’re also watching the carrots, bulb onions, garlic scapes, and green onions - almost ready for harvest baby.

In addition to farming, we also have 11 acres to maintain together. We also have a schedule for bi-weekly spraying of organic fish & kelp fertilizer. It’s an amazing property, but it keeps us busy!

The farm stand is open for business! Come out to the farm to pick up fresh seedlings for your garden and organic produce for your spring salads.

Produce available this week includes: premier kale, baby spinach, giant spinach, spring green onions, and crispy radishes - all freshly harvested from our fields in the last 24 hours.

In addition to our luscious Marigold Salve, today we’re releasing a brand new Blue Tansy Nectar - a silky, sunlit body oil made for glowing summer skin. Our skincare is crafted with high-quality, organic ingredients to deeply nourish, soften, and leave your skin luminous. Come by the farm stand and try it for yourself.

We’ve been working hard to get everything ready for you and as the seasons progresses, our produce options will expand!

Truthfully, it’s been an incredibly different spring for us. Between dramatic weather changes, crops freezing, and our home’s construction zone post-flood from January, we’re just hanging in there.

We’re looking forward to a beautiful and vibrant year growing for you all. 🫜

We’re reopening the farm stand!

Spring is in full swing, and the Juniper Joy Farm Stand reopens Friday, April 24.

📍 1 mile off Route 22 in Keswick
🕙 Fridays & Saturdays | 10 AM – 6 PM

This week you’ll find:
• Spring seedlings ready for your garden
• Limited fresh produce (just getting started for the season)
• Small batch skincare products
• A very limited number of fresh-cut tulip bouquets 🌷

A quick note—due to a pipe burst, we’re in the middle of a full kitchen renovation, so baked goods will be on pause for now. We’ll have them back as soon as we can.

Electric fence expansion complete! Before we establish our newest growing plots, we had to make sure the native wildlife like deer and white-tailed rabbits can’t access this space to eat our crops. 🦌

We used a 4 foot tall electric netting fence, PLUS a second loop of overhead electric rope, offset about 18 inches from the fence. This “3-D” effect works to deter deer because they have terrible depth perception. Therefore, we installed fence barriers at different heights, lengths, and depths so the deer can’t determine if our farm is safe to jump into. If wildlife still tries to test the fence, they get a gentle shock as a reminder. Thankfully the method was so successful, we had zero animal intrusions in 2025!

This info may be boring to some, but it’s real life on the farm. Our fence now encloses more than 1 acre for organic growing! Let’s keep growing! 🥕

We completed the Food Safety Modernization Act’s Produce Safety Grower 8-hour, voluntary training today! ⛑️

This training helps our farm comply with the FDA’s Produce Safety Rule by educating us on Good Agricultural Practices, farming-specific food safety plans, reducing risk from microbes, preventing any food contamination, and ensuring the safest produce for you and your family. As registered nurses, we place the highest priority on food safety in everything we do.
