Second-to-last weekend until the farm stand closes for the season!! We feel so bittersweet about wrapping up our 2026 year, but our harvests have been abundant and we love seeing you each weekend. However, one of the beautiful parts of a farming career physically using the body is how rewarding it feels to rest & recharge over winter.

This week we focused on harvesting the last of our summer marigolds and basil, spreading compost, planting cover crops for winter, and harvesting our gorgeous fall veggies. We’re excited for you to try this baby spinach, peppery arugula, carrots and buttery turnips!

There’s so much more we’ll be working on throughout the fall, stay tuned for more farm chaos!!

Winter squash are cured and ready for your kitchen table! This year we grew honeynut, spaghetti, acorn, and kabocha squashes. We can’t help but feel simultaneously proud of all the produce & flowers our fields have produced, but also sad that the farm summer is finished. But we’re excited to bring you fresh organically-grown vegetables for 3 more weekends.

The fall season is meant for multi-tasking. We continue to maintain our growing beds, snip the remaining blooms, w**d between baby plants, and spread fresh compost. Next week the garlic gets planted. Our back pastures are almost done being mowed. We are also starting to plant cover crops to improve the soil over winter. As the nighttime temperatures stretch closer to freezing, we feel our bodies and the fields preparing for a slower winter.

Something new is buzzing at the farm! Together with our friends at Rae~Leigh Farm, we’ve created a honey that celebrates our shared landscape in Keswick, Virginia. Their bees forage among our organically grown flowers, herbs, and native blooms at Juniper Joy Farm before returning home to craft this golden harvest.

In addition to local honey, we’re excited to fill the shelves with vibrant spaghetti squash, white Casperita pumpkins, crunchy salad turnips, and a variety of other gorgeous produce. Sadly, our tomato vines are tuckered out, concluding our summer crops.

After years in Tampa without real “seasons,” a cooler autumn is being fully embraced on the farm at this point!

Mid September energy. The tomato vines are starting to fade, but this week’s new harvest of salad turnips are so crunchy and sweet. Flowers are still radiant and lush for your kitchen table’s bouquet. We’re spreading our final round of compost for the year, so we can plant fresh beds with fall spinach, kale, lettuces, beets, carrots and bok choy. The winter squash are curing in our hoop house and will be for sale in the next couple weeks, Stella is protecting the squash until then! Your farmers are tired but excited to bring you 6 more weeks of beautiful produce!

This accidentally became the busiest weekend of our whole farming season because we were asked to participate in two incredible events back to back!

On Friday night, we partnered with Southwest Mountains Vineyards to provide our freshly harvested Golden Beets and Costata Romanesco Zucchini for their five-course Local Table dinner. It was an incredibly special milestone for us, marking the very first time we’ve had the chance to see our farm’s ingredients proudly showcased on a winery event menu. Huge thank you to the team at Southwest Mountains Vineyards for hosting such a gorgeous evening and letting us be a part of the local magic.

We’re keeping the momentum rolling straight into Sunday at VegFest in IX Art Park. If you’re nearby, you can come out and immerse yourself in all the incredible plant-based, local flavor the community has to offer, and make sure to swing by our table to see your favorite farmers.

In the meantime we’ve done our best to keep the farm store stocked this weekend. It’s been a whirlwind, but special thanks to both of our sets of parents for all their help behind the scenes for the farm lately.

September at Juniper Joy Farm is amazing because the summer crops are wrapping up and our fall crops are starting to flourish! The herbs are lush, the flowers are still gleaming, and the farm stand fridge is full if you’re local.

In reality, the w**ds are overwhelming, the grass grows quicker than we can mow, and the caterpillars are still munching on everything in sight. But we are working hard to bring you beautiful & nutritious produce for 8 more weeks!

There’s a little extra magic on the farm this time of year. ☀️

The hot summer days are giving us bins overflowing with tomatoes, peppers, squash, carrots, green beans, eggplants, cucumbers, cantaloupes, and flowers in every color. We grow these items with intention for you and your family.

But behind the pretty harvest photos are long days, stubborn w**ds, sweaty clothes, tired muscles, and a never-ending list of things that need to be done. 😅🌱 Farming is hard work and summer has a way of keeping us humble.

Still, there’s something pretty special about standing in the middle of all that work and seeing what this little piece of land can produce. We’re tired, grateful, and enjoying the magic (and chaos) of a summer in full bloom.

The last week of July has been sunny and chaotic in the best way. Our home’s kitchen is finally being re-built (it flooded in January). We’re desperately trying to keep up with the farm’s w**ds as we also plant lots of yummy crops for fall. If you’re in the area, we would love to see you at the farm stand this weekend! Open Friday & Saturday from 10:00-6:00!
