💡 Tech Tip‼️
Running out of storage on your iPhone?
I recently helped someone who was trying to avoid paying for additional iCloud storage. We looked at a few alternatives, hoping there was an easier or cheaper option.
What we found was that once photos, videos, messages, and other important files start adding up, there really isn't a magic solution.
One thing I explained is that storage and backups are not the same thing. You can free up space on your phone, but if you want to protect your data in case the phone is lost, damaged, or stops working, that information needs to be backed up somewhere.
The easiest way to reduce costs is often to clean up what you don't need anymore:
📸 Remove duplicate or unwanted photos
🎥 Delete old videos you no longer need
📂 Clear out large files and unused apps
🗑️ Empty the Recently Deleted folder
At the end of the day, keeping important data safe almost always comes with some cost. That might be paying for iCloud storage, buying an external drive, or setting up another backup solution. There are different ways to do it, but there is usually a cost somewhere.
The real goal is not having more storage. The goal is making sure the things that matter are backed up before something happens.
If you're not sure what's using all your storage or what backup option makes sense for you, feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to help you sort through it.
