My uncle has a special corner in his home dedicated to eagles, so my father commissioned this custom bald eagle carving as a gift for him during our most recent visit back to Wisconsin.

The wood came from an apple tree in our own woods, which made this piece even more meaningful. The board was badly twisted, so I first had to flatten and level both sides before it could go onto the CNC. That process reduced the usable width quite a bit, but the apple wood carved beautifully and held the eagle details surprisingly well.

Considering the limited space I had left after flattening the board, I’m very happy with how the finished piece turned out. It’s always rewarding to turn a rough, imperfect piece of wood into something personal that can be displayed and enjoyed for years.

I’ve been playing catch\-up on a backlog of projects after being away on vacation, and I’m excited to finally share one of the smaller ones with you\! It may not be a huge project, but every step gets me closer to finishing everything I’ve had in the works.

Sometimes the smallest projects require the biggest attention to detail!

This custom wooden sign was made for a customer who wanted to surprise a fellow woodworker with a unique handmade gift. Using some very small CNC bits, I was able to carve out the intricate lettering and fine details that really make this piece stand out.

It's always fun creating projects that are made by one craftsman for another. There's something special about giving a handmade gift to someone who appreciates the time, skill, and craftsmanship behind it.

One of those "boring but necessary" CNC tasks — resurfacing the spoilboard. Skim off the high spots, level everything out, and suddenly your machine is cutting like new again. The right bit makes it a 10-minute job. Worth every second.

Showing what it really takes to create video content behind the scenes.

Sometimes the setup is half the adventure — especially when you’re building little contraptions to make your equipment do things it was never really designed to do. Today I’m working on a CNC test piece and getting more comfortable using the CNC for future woodworking projects, custom signs, home decor, and items I’ll be making to sell soon.

There’s a lot of trial, error, creativity, problem-solving, and sawdust that goes into every finished piece. This is the part most people don’t always see — the testing, adjusting, clamping, filming, reworking, and figuring it out as you go.
