You’re the visionary.

The one with the big dream, the deadlines, and the drive to make it happen.

But while you’re charging toward the goal line…

Who’s keeping your dream safe and secure?

🥋Who’s making sure you’re compliant and on target with your goals?
🥋Who’s protecting your people and your processes as you grow?
🥋Who’s making sure you don’t run amok before you get to that finish line?

That’s where the HR Ninja comes in.

I help small to mid-sized employers move fast — without breaking what’s working.

Your dream deserves protection as much as it deserves progress.

Let’s talk about how HR strategy can support your growth:

This morning I had a deep and meaningful conversation about one of the hardest parts of leadership: hiring and letting go.

Candidates today know how to show up and interview well. But what happens when the person who shows up for work isn’t the same person you thought you hired?

As an employer, it’s frustrating—and concerning. Documentation matters, but it’s not enough. You also need to look at how one employee’s performance is impacting your team and your clients.

Your reputation is everything. You cannot afford to let one person put that at risk.

And here’s the truth: if someone isn’t working out for you, chances are—you aren’t working out for them either.

Letting someone go should be done with kindness, compassion, and swiftness. Because doing the hard thing the right way serves everyone involved.

👉 If you’re struggling with these kinds of tough decisions, that’s where I step in. As an HR consultant, I help small businesses navigate hiring, documentation, and terminations with confidence—protecting both your people and your reputation. Let’s connect.

Setting Clear Boundaries: The Key to Accountability in the Workplace

I dislike it when a manager shares notes from an employee meeting, especially when the expectations and consequences for the employee are unclear. 🥋

Establishing clear boundaries and expectations for employee performance is crucial in today’s fast-paced work environment. Small talk and sugarcoating can lead to misunderstandings. Instead, communicate openly and honestly about what is expected and the consequences of not meeting those standards. 🥋

Consequences are essential for accountability, not punishment. When employees understand the repercussions of their actions, they are more likely to take their responsibilities seriously. Sharing these consequences upfront ensures everyone knows the stakes involved. 🥋

Most importantly, consistency is vital. If you outline expectations and consequences, you must follow through to maintain authenticity in your leadership. Failing to do so undermines your authority and erodes trust. 🥋

In short, clear communication and enforceable boundaries foster a productive workplace. Embrace directness and accountability, and empower your team to take ownership of their performance. 🥋

Let’s get to work!🥋

Throughout my career, I've repeatedly observed (and experienced) how individuals are promoted to management roles based on their expertise, yet often lack the necessary support to truly thrive in those positions.

While it's true that top performers may excel in their roles, we cannot assume they will automatically become effective managers. It's vital to provide the support needed to set them up for success.

Here are several ways to do just that: 👇🏻

🥋 Invest Your Time: Share your journey and insights as a leader. Be there to listen, support, and allow them to ask questions without judgment. Creating a space for vulnerability can help them grow immensely.

🥋 Find a Mentor: Connect them with someone in or outside your organization who can offer guidance. Creativity is key in matching them with the right support.

🥋 Encourage Leadership Programs: Many local chambers of commerce and colleges offer professional leadership programs that can be invaluable.

🥋 Consider a Coach: Hiring a career development coach can give them dedicated one-on-one time for learning, connection, and a safe space to express their thoughts and feelings.

By actively supporting our future leaders, we ensure not only their success but the success of our teams and organizations as a whole. Let's commit to fostering growth in management roles!

No matter what words you use, the employee hears “you’re fired.”

You can say any of these :
❗️ Reorganization
❗️Transitioned
❗️ Let go
❗️ Regroup
❗️ Merged
❗️ Restructured

The only thing the candidate heard was “you’re fired.”

So please…

❌ Skip the small talk
❌ Don’t try to make them feel better.
❌ Don’t make the conversation any longer than it has to be.

Be direct and to the point. Tell them the truth. There is nothing you can say to make them feel better.

And if you’re the one they report to, whether it was your decision or not, please tell them yourself.

Please don’t leave it to HR. We have enough emotional work on our plates. We are happy to be in the room for support. That’s what we are here for.

I’ve been on both sides of the desk. I understand how you’re feeling.

If you’re in the position of having these conversations, I’m here to support you. I once had someone hug me and say, "Thanks for all you did for me," when I told her she was fired. I can help you cultivate kindness and compassion.

If you’re on the other side of this conversation and don’t know what to do next, I’m here for you, too. It's not the end, just the next step. You have value, you have worth, and it does not come from that job.

DM me. I'm here to listen and support.

Where are you focusing today?

I spent this morning in a not so comfortable situation. I went to a diversity conference, knowing that I’d be the usual “white lady” in the group.

I was a little uncomfortable going in as I don’t have a diverse background at all, so how can I be part of the change?

I mean…. I don’t know what I don’t know.

But what I found is that I just need to talk to people.

The beautiful lady next to me, who couldn’t be more different than me, turned to me at one point and said, “thank you for smiling, and speaking to me. When I first came in the other people in the room were all keeping them selves and didn’t speak to me. I was very very uncomfortable coming alone. But you turned and smiled at me and said, hello how are you, and started a conversation and it made me feel so good.”

What I realized in that moment is that we all are just human. We all just want to be seen and heard.

I don’t begin to mean that is how we fix anything or lead diversity. However, I do think is the first step to learning what I don’t know.

I learned a lot this morning about how to be more aware and how to start the conversation. I also learned that small steps are a start and so appreciated by others.

So here’s what I leave you with:

Be the change you wish to see in the world.
