One of the most important phases of any design project happens before a single item is purchased—the schematic development phase.

This is where the overall vision begins to take shape. During this stage, I establish the design direction, create a cohesive color story, determine key materials and finishes, and source furnishings, lighting, textiles, and accessories that support the aesthetic and functional goals of the space.

For this project, the design balances historic character with modern living through the thoughtful layering of vintage and contemporary pieces. Rich textures, timeless materials, and carefully selected furnishings work together to create a home that feels collected, warm, and enduring.

Design isn't just about choosing beautiful things—it's about creating a clear vision before making decisions.

A playroom project that feels especially meaningful to me because I was able to incorporate paintings created by my mother. 🤍

My mom is a woman of many talents — an interior designer, artist, seamstress, wallpaper installer, faux painter, and true DIYer. Creativity filled our home growing up, and so much of who I am today was inspired by watching her bring beauty and warmth into spaces with her hands.

Being able to include her artwork in this room made the project feel even more personal and special.

So grateful for her today and every day. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible mothers out there. ✨

The Red Onion in Saugerties ❤️

When a brand already has a strong identity, the design becomes about honoring and elevating it. For this space, we leaned into the restaurant’s signature red—rather than competing with it.

By keeping the walls and ceiling neutral, the red elements were able to truly stand out. We kept the existing red chairs, exposed the original brick to bring warmth and texture, and layered in dried floral arrangements with subtle red tones to tie everything together.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the most impactful design moves aren’t about adding more—but about creating the right backdrop so what already exists can shine.

It’s all in the details. ✨

Happy Earth Day 🌎

Throwing it back to a 2019 project for .design.connection at —where every piece was either found or handmade. This was early in my career and gave me the space to explore what thoughtful, sustainable design could look like in practice.

It was such a meaningful experience to create something beautiful with the planet in mind, alongside so many talented makers. Featuring work by , , , , , and .

Still so grateful for this one ✨

Before & After of a living room in an 1800s farmhouse.

The original layout felt weighed down by oversized furniture, and the palette leaned cold, leaving the space without much personality. By reworking the scale of the pieces and warming up the color story, the room now feels lighter, more open, and aligned with the character of the home.

It’s a good reminder that proportion and tone can completely shift how a space feels—sometimes that’s all it takes.

Now it feels warm, inviting, and full of charm.

A few simple updates that made a noticeable difference.

We refreshed this entry with a new stair color, added a runner with stair rods, updated the ceiling light, and brought in art to tie everything together. Subtle changes that help the space feel more considered and complete.

Before & after of a powder bath in a 1960s home.

This renovation went beyond surface updates—we reworked the layout by removing one wall and adding another to create a more natural, accessible flow right off the entry. It’s a great example of how small structural changes can completely improve how a space functions.

The design came together through a strong color story that carried throughout the room. The wallpaper ties it all in—it brings in those tones while adding a subtle narrative of country living that gives the space personality without overwhelming it.

We paired a sink from with an antique dresser and mirror, blending modern and vintage elements for a more layered, collected feel—something I always aim for in my work.

These clients were such a joy—they trusted the process, made thoughtful decisions, and it shows.

Definitely one of my favorite transformations to date 🤍

One of my favorite services is styling and staging—especially when a client already has beautiful pieces to work with. It allows the space to feel deeply personal and layered, rather than overly designed.

In this bedroom, we focused on working with what was already there and enhancing it where needed. I sourced the bedding, selected a curtain rod, and had custom curtains made to soften the space and bring everything together. I also chose the paint color to create a cohesive backdrop for the room.

A small but impactful detail: the bedding was intentionally selected to echo the tones of the lamp and side table. These kinds of subtle connections are what make a space feel thoughtful, grounded, and complete.

Before & After: Primary bathroom in an 1800s farmhouse ✨

One of my favorite ways to create impact in older homes is by working with what’s already there rather than starting from scratch.

In this space, we focused on:
• Paint color selection – choosing a tone that felt historically appropriate while also grounding the room and softening the light
• Vintage lighting & accessories – adding pieces with age and patina to bring warmth, character, and a sense of continuity
• Reusing what you have – the mirror was something the client already owned (found in a closet!) and it ended up being the perfect anchor for the space

When designing in historic homes, cohesion often comes from layering old and new in a thoughtful way—letting each piece feel intentional rather than overly styled.

The result is a bathroom that feels calm, grounded, and connected to the rest of the home… without needing a full renovation.
