January is the month we set goals, resolutions, or a vision for the new year ahead of us.

There is something refreshing with a new year, not unlike the first page of my adult coloring book waiting for me to give it color.🖍️

For 2023, I am focusing on being 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡.

🔑𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝘁𝗼:

• trying something that I am fearful of 😱 overcoming anxiety producing situations

• doing activities that I say I want to begin, but haven't yet--learn the ukele 🎵, learn to speak Spanish 📕, and try ballroom dancing 💃.

• the hard, but worth it things, like reaching new coaching clients so I can help them be OPEN to going beyond their own fears and limiting beliefs.

Seeing people come to buy fish and handing the owner, money, this cat went out and got a leaf to pay for her fish. On the first day, the owner of the shop thought this was very cute, so he gave her a small fish. Now everyday this cat comes in to buy a fish with a leaf.

Instead of a 🎉New Year's Resolution, I chose a word to guide me. My word for 2022 was 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍.

My goal was to attempt to move through life according to my values and beliefs. Funny, I had taught the importance of values to leaders and teams for years, but not sure I really took the time to consider my own to guide my life and more specifically my career.

So, I had to start first with identifying my life values. Not as easy as it sounds, or at least not for me. But it is worth the efforts.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀❓

𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀.

I discovered in my transition from Corporate HR Executive to Career Coach and Consultant, that it is the best place to start to 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, rather than default.

When you Identify your values you can be better in choosing behaviors and making decisions that will take you in the career direction that aligns with your life values.

When that alignment is met--magic can happen. Our energy and passion is greater, our thinking is clearer and we start to tear down self-imposed limitations.

I know it worked for me. After working for close to 30 years for others it never crossed my mind that I could be an entrepreneur. But here I am, finishing up my first full year!

I haven't decided yet what my word will be for 2023 yet, but I know that living intentionally will go with me no matter what it is.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱, 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮? 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.
