La Crosse Dive Unit

Just got back our sonar units after some maintenance so we headed out on the water to make sure everything was working correctly! We want to make sure our equipment is operational in case we are needed.

K9 Casey also came along to get a negative boat ride in. Negative boat rides are an important part of K9 water search training. Teaching the K9s that not every search results in a find builds confidence, improves search reliability, and prepares them for real-life deployments.

The Dive Unit canines were out training this past Sunday. Many thanks to Monroe County Highway Department (https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/departments/highway) for allowing us to train on some of their property. It is difficult to find large acreages where we can train the dogs, so it is always appreciated!

What a great night at the National Night Out events! We had two units out. One in Onalaska with the City of Onalaska Police Department and one at Mormon Coulee Park with the La Crosse County Sheriff's Office. We were passing on information, had some throw bag competitions, hula hoops going, ring toss, and interaction with the Dive Unit K9s. Thanks to Jean Musgjerd, Tiera Gonzalez, Colleen Anderson, Byron Olmstead, Jen Sauer, D. Marshall Quackenboss, John Burelbach, Jordan Shack, and Steve Link for staffing the exhibits. Hope to see you next year!
