I need to tell you what I saw in that committee room.
Bail agents stood up one after another against SB 562. The committee barely looked up. They’d already decided what we were going to say.
But here’s who they HAVEN’T heard from: YOU.
The mom who called at 2 AM and had her son home by sunrise. The dad who kept his job because he didn’t sit in a cell for three weeks waiting on paperwork. The family that held together because somebody answered the phone.
Under SB 562, that call stops getting answered until the DA files charges — up to 21 DAYS later. The people this bill claims to protect are the ones who’ll sit in jail.

I’ll say it plainly: I’m a born-again Christian. And it’s not separate from the work I do — it is the work.

My job is finding what’s hidden. People who don’t want to be found. Facts someone buried. The truth underneath the story everyone agreed to tell.

And 25 years in, I can tell you it never fails: the truth surfaces. You can delay it, dress it up, run from it across three states — it still comes out. I’ve built a career on that being true.

Scripture said it first: “Nothing is concealed that will not be disclosed.” — Luke 12:2

That verse is my whole profession in one line. But it’s also how I try to live. Do the work right when nobody’s watching. Treat people with dignity — even the ones I’m bringing back. Remember that everyone I’m looking for is somebody’s son, somebody’s father.

The badge says investigator. But the job is bigger than the badge.

Find the truth. Walk in the light. Do right by people.

That’s the whole thing.

Most people in the bail world are reacting to SB 562. I read it.

Here’s what I found: this is being sold as a consumer-protection bill. In the field, it does the opposite.

The agents who’d get hurt aren’t the ones gaming the system — they’re the ones writing bonds for working families on thin margins. To survive a refund mandate, they’ll stop writing the riskiest cases. And the “riskiest cases” are often the low-income defendants this bill claims to protect.

A refund bill shouldn’t become a jail-delay bill.

I’ve spent 25 years doing this work — bonds, recovery, locating people nobody else could find. I know what these laws do after they leave the Capitol, because I’m the one in the field when they hit.

Read the actual text. Not the summary. Then decide where you stand.
