IRS INCREASES STANDARD MILEAGE
RATE TO 76 CENTS PER MILE
EFFECTIVE JULY 1ST
Due to the rising cost of gas, the Internal Revenue Service is increasing the standard mileage rate by 2.5 cents for the second half of 2026. Effective July 1, 2026, the standard milage rate is 76 cents per mile for all business miles. For the period January 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026, the standard mileage rate is 72.5 cents
per mile. For the period July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, the standard business mileage rate is 76 cents per mile. Businesses who reimburse employees for business miles driven on the employee’s car should make sure to reimburse at the correct rate.

IR-2025-128, Dec. 29, 2025 — The Internal Revenue Service today announced that the optional standard mileage rate for business use of automobiles will increase by 2.5 cents in 2026.
