Gulf Coast Forensic Solutions (GCFS) was proud to participate in this year’s Louisiana Coroners Association conference! We appreciate the opportunity to present educational sessions and host a vendor table at such a valuable event dedicated to helping Louisiana’s coroners better serve the families and communities they represent.

Charlie Hunter, Jr. and Dr. Erik Handberg shared their knowledge and experience as presenters, while Forensic Technicians Alexis Cimino and Alexis Ravenscroft enjoyed connecting with attendees at our vendor booth.

It was a pleasure spending time with coroners and professionals from across Louisiana who share our commitment to service, education, and excellence in death investigation. Thank you for welcoming GCFS and allowing us to be part of such a great event!

Gulf Coast Forensic Solutions was honored to take part in the National Cribs for Kids Conference, with the privilege of presenting and participating on the conference Q&A panel alongside professionals committed to protecting our most vulnerable.

Opportunities like this are about so much more than standing in front of a room.

They are about bringing together the people who see these tragedies from every perspective …prevention professionals, medical personnel, death investigators, law enforcement, educators, advocates, and others and having the difficult conversations that can ultimately save lives.

For GCFS, training has never simply been about teaching a class. It is about taking real-world experience, science, and lessons learned from the field and using them to make investigators and communities better prepared.

We are incredibly grateful to Cribs for Kids for the opportunity to contribute, answer questions, exchange ideas, and learn alongside professionals from across the country.

Because when it comes to infant safety and death prevention, one life saved makes every conversation, every presentation, and every hour of training worth it.

Today, I had the incredible honor of accepting the Starfish Award, and I honestly don’t have the words to fully express what it means to me.

As honored as I am to receive this recognition, I know in my heart that this award is so much bigger than me. I may be the one holding it, but I’m holding it for every person who has poured their time, heart, and passion into the SWLA Safe Sleep Task Force.

There have been so many people behind this mission…people who have shown up, shared their knowledge, opened their hearts, and believed that the work we are doing can truly save a life.

And I especially want to recognize Eric Reed and Arica Reed. The two of you have become such an important part of this journey, and I am so thankful for the work we do together. Your dedication, your strength, and the heart you bring to this mission mean more to me than you probably realize.

And somehow, this recognition came on what feels like the perfect day.

Today is Kaden Reed’s heavenly birthday. He would have been 13 years old today. That makes receiving an award centered around the idea that one life matters carry an even deeper meaning.

The Starfish story has always reminded me that one life matters. One family matters. One baby matters. And if the work we do can make even one difference…if one family hears something that helps keep their child safe…then it is worth every late night, every conversation, every presentation, and every effort.

Today feels like a reminder of exactly why this work matters and why we keep going.

So today, I accept this award with a very full heart, but I accept it on behalf of all of us.

I am incredibly grateful to be part of something that has the potential to make a lasting difference. And I’m even more grateful for the people I get to do it with.

This one belongs to all of us. 𓇼
