Addison Public Library reopened its renovated building on May 31 with a ribbon-cutting celebration that brought more than 1,100 community members through the doors.

Visitors explored the library using bingo cards, collecting stamps at featured stops throughout the building, including the flexAMH, Bibliotheca’s automated materials handling system. The reopening also introduced Sam’s Lab, a new second-floor makerspace designed for hands-on creativity and learning.

Located just outside Chicago, Addison serves a diverse community in which more than half of the residents speak a language other than English at home. Bibliotheca Account Executive Nate Janney was there for the celebration, and the turnout spoke for itself.

Bibliotheca has launched Bibliotheca Academy, an on-demand training platform that gives library staff direct access to product training across Bibliotheca solutions.

The platform includes modular courses, guided learning paths, recorded sessions, and regular office hours with the Bibliotheca training team. Bibliotheca Academy is now available to customers in the United States and Canada via subscription.

Since 2000, the Veterans History Project at The Library of Congress has collected the personal stories of U.S. military veterans, from World War I to more recent conflicts.

Today, the archive holds more than 121,000 individual collections, including oral histories, letters, diaries, and photographs, all of which are preserved and publicly accessible.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who served, and the libraries that help ensure their stories are never lost.
