Gearing up for the post-Covid return to work. Especially those returning to the heavier more physical jobs, take heed of just how long you’ve been off work, how reconditioned you may have become, then either prepare yourself physically before returning to work. Be sure to include lots of stretching and then exercise, weight lifting or other activities that utilize the same muscle groups, at a comparable level of physical demand. For those already back at work, or confident that your time off hasn’t resulted in losing your competitive edge, just take it easy during your return to work transition. Be a notch or too higher on the cautious side. Like roofers/carpenters, before you walk beam to beam like you could do 2 years ago, or house painters maybe move that ladder instead of reaching essentially beyond your reach like you could do 2 years ago. The heightened safety measures that occurred due to Covid resulted in overall safer work environments, increased awareness and greater attention to and monitoring of workers’ adherence to safety policies and programs.
Since the day I hung my shingle, my business plan has morph’d so many times and in so many ways that my company’s business plan is a historical document. As I became educated in a wide range of government programs, still aiming to help the individual successfully navigate their way through services, I was able to stay afloat. Now Being versed in unemployment benefits. Social security disability and especially the appeals processes, my company stayed relevant and aimed to serve the needs of everyday people such as our neighbors and friends of family and friends. If workplace safety continues to limit the number of daily injuries, thus limit the number of people in the demographic I have chosen to help based on my 25 years of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, then I will continue to adapt to whatever needs exist or arise in the near future. I’m being sincere when I offer advice to the workers in the Northwest to avoid being injured due to de conditioning whixh may have resulted from months/years of having their jobs shut down due to COVID 19.
Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have questions or concerns regarding benefits, compensation or services to which workers in Washington may be entitled. The initial consultation is free of charge, so don’t hesitate to obtain some information and possibly set your mind at ease as “the unknown” may be a significant fear, but one that may be immediately resolved in one brief conversation. I’m here to help.
