We are back to work! Trying to catch up.

I got this email from my dentist today (3/18/2020). Since we travel the entire state and have been in multiple dental, medical, chiropractic, hospital and veterinary facilities we have decided to cancel our appointments for the next 2 weeks to make sure we are not contributing to the spread. We plan to start scheduling again on April 7th provided we are both healthy and uninfected. Stay safe. Feel free to contact us if you need to be scheduled. Sorry for the inconvenience.

"New Update on the Coronavirus situation as of March 17, 2020
To our valued patients,
Due to the ever-changing situation surrounding the Coronavirus (Covid-19), we have decided to close our office for 3 weeks at the recommendation of the ADA (American Dental Association). We will, however, be available to handle any dental emergencies you may have during this time. The ADA wants dental offices to make sure we continue to treat any patient with pain, infection, or necessary procedures in order to keep them out of the possible overcrowded emergency rooms during this time.
The current plan is to re-open for regular dental appointments on Monday April 6, 2020. But we will, however, be evaluating the situation continuously and will keep you updated if that date is to be extended. If you currently have a non-emergency dental appointment scheduled with us during this time we will be contacting you to get you rescheduled.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Our highest priority is keeping our patients, staff, families and community safe.
There will be staff on call periodically if you need to contact us at."

This notice is for dental assistants that take x-ray. Please remember that you must have an up to date certificate from the Indiana State Department of Health to take x-rays in Indiana. If you have taken the DANB and passed that does NOT count as your state certificate. Also, if you had a student permit/certificate you MUST update to a dental assistant certificate in order to continue taking x-rays. You may check the status or renew you certificate at in.gov/PLA and follow the link to "Search & Verify"

WE RECEIVED THIS NOTICE REGARDING HAND HELD DENTAL (AND VET DENTAL) UNITS. IF YOU PLAN TO PURCHASE ONE PLEASE BE SURE AND APPLY FOR AN EXEMPTION BEFORE THE PURCHASE.

Physicist,

Please be aware all Hand Held Dental units require an Exemption prior to purchase. Earlier I sent everyone an e-mail about an Exemption for the Nomad Aribex, but the Exemption is required for all Hand Held Dental units. We are seeing more of them now by different Manufacturers and the new ones look like a camera.

What the Facility needs to give you is the FDA 510K number proving that the unit has FDA clearance. They get this information from the Manufacturer (salesperson) who sold, or is selling them the unit.

Remind the Facilities the same applies to these units as with any new X-ray machine, the Operators have to receive instruction prior to use.

The best training or instruction prior to use, is from the Manufacturer if at all possible, if not, the Provider, Practitioner, or Physician at the Facility will need to instruct their Operators. Any training should be documented in the event they are asked to provide proof of training. The Exemption (copy attached) states the Operator and the patient are to wear a lead aprons as well as why the exemption is required.

Requests for an exemption are sent to Dave Nauth [email protected] by e-mail on their business letterhead explaining why they need this exemption. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.

We're finishing up inspections for 2017 and have begun scheduling for 2018.
Remember:
Hospital, Medical and Chiropractic facilities are due for inspection yearly.
Veterinary and Podiatry are due every other year, so if your inspection was done in 2016, it is due in 2018.
Dental facilities are due every three years, so if your inspection was done in 2015, it is due in 2018.

If you are planning to add new equipment in 2018, remember it will need to be inspected.
