**Statement on My Experience at the NPUC Hearing**
I attended the NPUC hearing yesterday afternoon, and I found the experience to be quite remarkable. The community's commitment to fighting for energy independence was evident. It is clear that many people are fed up with the continuous rate increases from NV Energy. The proposal for a 9% rate hike, which supposedly would lead to an overall decrease in energy costs by 4% by the end of the year, left most attendees skeptical.
During the hearing, I sought clarification about the time-of-use rate proposal and its potential impact on both existing and future solar customers. However, I was informed that it wasn’t a question-and-answer session and was directed to NV Energy representatives positioned outside the chamber for answers. Unfortunately, after speaking with four different representatives, none could provide me with the details I was looking for.
The lack of clear communication from NV Energy is concerning and emphasizes the need for greater transparency in these discussions. The community deserves to have their questions addressed and to fully understand the implications of proposed rate changes, especially for those of us invested in solar energy. I believe it's vital that we continue to advocate for our rights as consumers and work towards a future of true energy independence.
